ties last year's number of people put on IR...most in team's history.

Silatolu to IR; Stewart still hobbled

The Panthers tied a team record Wednesday when rookie guard Amini Silatolu was placed on injured reserve.

Silatolu, the second-round pick who will need surgery on his dislocated wrist, becomes the 18th player to go on IR, tying last season's team mark. Panthers coach Ron Rivera did not announce a corresponding roster move.

With center Geoff Hangartner still sidelined with a sprained foot, the Panthers could start four undrafted free agents, with varying levels of experience, on the line Sunday against New Orleans: center Jeff Byers, guard Thomas Austin and tacklesGarry Williams and Byron Bell.

couple things bothering me about this.

1) why bother? last game of the season and you put a guy on IR, why?

2) built in excuse? we used it all the time with fox...stacked up the injured list so we can blame a disappointing season on injuries. maybe legit, but seems awfully weird to me.

Rayzor, I've noticed something about your posts. For as long as I have been a member of the huddle it never once occurred to me that you have something against institutionalizing a capital letter when it's warranted.

No, nothing wrong with it, just dawned on me right now. It's like, if you start capitalizing now, it wouldn't be you.

2011 Ron Rivera: "We led the league in players on the IR and we won 4 of our last 6 games."

2012 Ron Rivera: "We led the league in players on the IR and we won 4 of our last 6 games."

that's what we in panther land like to consider "trending up".

i don't have anything against it...i just don't do it, at least when i'm screwing around on a message board.

when i'm working at my freelance/ghost writing gig, i'm a lot more careful about that kind of thing and if it gets messy then my proof-readers/editors clean it up for me. in forums, on twitter (non-professional), and personal emails i rarely use caps. not sure why.
