Maybe we are waiting on

We hired a GM consultant months ago so i trust that we have our short list as well as our top choice all sorted. As someone pointed out our guy may be still in the playoffs. If that is the case we have to wait.

I'm gusssing JR has interviewed those who are available. Conceivably we may not hire a GM until February.

Yeah people need to get off the Kelly thing.

I wanted him, I still do, but the man will probably already have a job before we even hire a GM. So will other top tier coaching candidates with this many openings.

Start thinking about Tier 2 coaching candidates and ask yourself if they're better than Rivera. I don't think so. The longer this goes on the more likely it is that keeping Rivera with a "playoffs or you're fired" mandate is the best option.

Chip Kelly has interviews lined up with Philly, Cleveland, and Buffalo.

He's not coming to Carolina.

As a Falcons fan I see how you'd hope so. Out of those I see the Panthers competing, though I agree who we get is going to want to be here and there are some guys who don't want to be here, Cam or no Cam (sorry to be realistic huddle).

Still though, the Browns? If anything we are a glorified browns. The eagles? Lots of bad cap management like us but our QB is much more promising and on his way up, not down. And their city/people are trash wtf. Buffalo, fans are OK their loyal despite their FOs bas decisions latley we can compare to all that, its cold as balls up really all I got but I if any team comes close I think its Bills, or Eagles if the coach doesn't mind shitty fans.

Still, those aren't exactly the Cowboys, Giants, Steelers, Packers, Bears....

JR is really this FO's biggest turn off if being small market isn't an issue. Yea he's a big one but... the Browns? come on

He always drags out GM hires?

That sounds like a specious claim.

I said poo, which refers to general poo. JR doesn't make announcments but once in a blue moon, he doesn't notify anyone of the process but rather does all that when everything is said and done. It feels like it is being dragged out because we don't get those details. Not every fanbase does.

Also, Hurney has been fired for a while now...you'd think we'd already have targeted somebody...

What I am saying is people should stop sitting here and waiting for details because we probably won't hear much until everything is already done.

That still doesn't explain the lack of general manager information being withheld from the public and why the process is taking longer than other teams.

Hell our general manager was fired over two months ago, we should be the first one with a general manager.

We still could be.

No one else has actually made a hire yet (coach or GM). All anybody else has is interview permission, same as us. So it's kinda tough to say our process is taking longer. More accurate to say it isn't getting as much national press, but that's not unusual.

Does anybody else find it odd that other teams have multiple interests in coaches but Carolina is only reported to be linked to one interest?

It was all just speculation. There never was any actual 'link'.

You don't really know much about the Panthers....do you?

This team has ALWAYS been very tight lipped when it comes to personnel matters. Just because you are not hearing anything does not mean that nothing is happening.

Some teams are very public....some are not. We are way the fug over on the "not" end of that spectrum.

Oh I a lot about the organization. I've been going to the games every year before they had a stadium

Mediocrity does not happen overnight.....

Medicority must be carefully planned and executed- one small mistake and you could find yourself in the awkward position of being a complete and utter failure or a huge success- neither of which can or will be tolerated in Charlotte.

    • Malcom Spence is the best player remaining, hope he’s there.
    • The era that you played in, and, more importantly, who you played with actually matters. Honestly, that's why these issues will be debated forever, as it's just difficult to say that this person or that person is better when you're discussing the passage of time. As for me, after Rice, Moss and maybe Megatron and T.O., there's probably a dozen or so guys that can be argued about to the cows come home. Personally, I'm not putting Fitz, Harrison, Johnson, Evans, or especially D-Hop, Jefferson, Chase or Hill definitely in front of Smitty (and Colston ain't even in the discussion). Context and all that stuff actually matters. Things like the triple crown matter.
    • Some of those guys? Yeah honestly you can.  I would 100% take Steve Smith over Larry Fitzgerald, Harrison, even Mike Evans. He is 100% a better player than those guys in his prime. If you look at the numbers Smith is historically under targeted in comparison to his contemporaries. He was only targeted 150 times or more only once in his career. Fitzgerald for example was targeted well above that 9 different seasons. Had Smith played with Peyton, Brady, Greatest Show on Turf, or even with Warner in Arizona he would broken records. His 2008 season was ridiculous accumulating 1400 yards in 13 games on less than 80 receptions. All time he also lost a season due to injury in 04, barely played WR as a rookie. Got robbed of 1k season with Clausen. Thats easily another 1800yds minimum that should have been tacked on to his #s. The only guys I’d say for certain are better than Smith are Rice, Moss, TO, Megatron, Julio Jones, Antonio Brown.
