When was the last time we .......

In his first few years, Hurney seemed to go get a good FA every year. He never went out and signed a top tier FA, but guys like Lucas, Wahle, and Hartwig. I think Hartwig was actually the last one he signed that other teams were pursuing, and maybe because he busted Hurney backed off them. Or it could have come from JR. We got Tyler Brayton (Raiders starter) in 2009, and that was it. Coincidentally, that was also the last season where JR's sons were running things, so the idea that management told him to cut it out may be valid.

If it is, then it will probably have bearing on how the next GM behaves (i.e., don't look for a Vincent Jackson type of signing any time soon). Or maybe Hurney just got sick of going after them.

Stephen Davis

Ken Lucas

Mike Wahle

Marlon McCree

Chris Harris

Moose resigning

Tried with Keyshawn

Shockey

Edit: I would consider Olsen a FA signing

Just off the top of my head

Was 2005 the year that McCree was just straight up awesome? I remember him being a great pickup for us.

    • New season new teams. Everyone we face has improved their team as well. There's now a full season of tape on Canales's offense and Bryce running it. When they win 7 games I will become a believer.
    • I mean I think its a bit disingenuous to call basically anyone here a casual fan. I don't think the casual fan creates a profile then logs into it, in the offseason, to comments on mundane offseason topics.. I dont think anyone on here would be considered a casual fan. That said, I get your point. My POV is from the player. They sign this contract, move their family because of these contracts. When Clowney came him, we basically had a coming home party for him.  So yeah, I get why we did it and I know that ultimately the owner doesnt 'save' money, but I can feel for the human side of the player, which is why I want them to get all they can while they can.
    • My guess is the NBA will either send Flagg back “home” to the Northeast in Brooklyn or Washington, or San Antonio so that they can keep building around Wemby. If I was a betting man I would take the odds on the Spurs. This definitely feels like a #1 pick that they will rig.
