Plenty of NFL guys are very free with their words when they know they don't have to attach their name to it.

They've had this feature for years, long before Newton ever came along. Occasionally guys admit to being the ones who said such and such or someone figures it out.

The only problem is the ones who talk the most likely know the least.

Also what does NFL scout mean?? I watch games pretty closely and try to form opinions on players and teams. Does that make me an NFL scout?

I bet you $100 these are not all guys that are employed by NFL teams and he is talking to draftniks that are technically NFL scouts.

Just for clarification i never said the quotes were from PFW, just the feature itself.. I still think who ever said that about cam was probably an intern scout for another team or something who never was actually in a Locker room with him or met him in real life lol

Oh, I have no problem with your post or quote anyway; cause the spirit is correct.

It's quite possible that these were BS--low level scouts; ones' who haven't actually watched Cam and stated that (but PFW didn't give that disclaimer), or one of their writers, who used to scout, therefore the title. Who knows?

I can tell you, I knew the hit piece they did on Cam before the draft was total BS, as soon as I heard it. Cause the Miami Herald, and the draft people they work with, did an excellent, UBER extensive draft piece (just like NFL teams would, and the Panthers did on Cam), and they confirmed that all Cam's coaches and teammates from Highschool, Junior College, and Auburn, loved him and said he was a strong, positive natural leader, who was well liked, admired, and stayed out of trouble.

Most of the media didn't talk about the actual research on Cam (which was actually spotless, outside of his Univ Of Florida travails). And instead they just played into media stereotypes that were unfounded or untrue.

It was really a total hit job from so many sources. That's why Warren Moon, and others, were so mad at the poo he took, but nonetheless confident he would succeed and prove them wrong. And he did, of course.

And you can find just about any opinion you go looking for. Ask league guys about the Ryan brothers after a few beers, or about Cutler or Newton. They print the ones that will generate the most mentions or hits.

Newton is the cowboy in black right now for many in the media. He has been cast as a bad guy and it is an opinion shared by many non-Panther fans. So yeah, this stuff will continue until we win. It used to piss me off, because he is, after all, our guy. Now it barely even bothers me.

not all of them feel the same way about players. some execs like newton, others don't...but that's not a big deal because the same is said for most QBs in the league. aside from maybe brady, rodgers, and brees i'm sure they all have their detractors.

No, it's just the same old sources that PFW went to pre-draft 2011 where they got the old "fake smile" "bad leader" BS.

Anytime they want to take a shot at Cam, all they have to do is go back to that well.

You think the media who got it wrong dislike Cam? What do you think SCOUTS whose job it (supposedly) is to evaluate players who got it completely and utterly wrong feel? Forgiving?

except vick "won big games" plenty of times in his career.

the falcon teams he quarterbacked were nowhere near as stacked as atlanta's right now yet vick's teams won a lot more in the playoffs.
