Florio criticizes Gettleman hire, calls it "dog and pony show"

When former Giants G.M. Ernie Accorsi was hired to help the Panthers find a new G.M., the first name that popped up in league circles as the prime candidate was Giants executive Dave Gettleman, given his relationship and friendship with Accorsi. And even though Gettleman wasn’t even interviewed for any of the other G.M. openings in the current hiring cycle, he won the dog-and-pony show in Charlotte.

People can criticize all they want though, I still think he was a great hire.

florio makes some inflammatory remark about a franchise, large/active fan forum quotes it and links it back to him...florio gets what he wants. more traffic. more link juice power.

Like I said, negativity is good for business in this type of media. Just look around.

Hey look. We went with Rivera who had been passed over 10 times (or whatever it was). Why were we the ones to pull the trigger?

I think Gettleman looks great on paper and it will be 5 years before we can evaluate him.

5 years? This board will be calling for his head if we lose the first game next year.

    • Ohio State no. 8 won it all last year.  No. 6 Penn State and no. 7 Notre Dame advanced to the semi-final. This year no. 7 Ole Miss is going to win it all.
    • agreed.  Lack of games/opportunity makes him a non-factor in OROTY talk.  He is just now getting the stage where there is legit film on him.  Takes awhile to really see how guys react to all the different scenarios and to find the real weak spots on a QB's play in an O.
    • Oh boy how the tables have turned...the passion and extent at which you defend Shough would make even the staunchest Bryce fanboys blush.  The bold part is especially straight from their playbook.  Even if someone here were to withhold giving Shough props, it's pretty understandable as a Panthers fan.  What's quite odd is becoming the biggest stan of our most hated rival's starting QB.  I don't think even Saints fans drool over him this hard. For the record I think this talk about "stans" and "fanboys" is cringe AF and I'm admittedly being rather hyperbolic because this is exactly the kind of discourse and language you personally love to engage in and it's fun to play in the mud from time to time.  There is absolutely no world where you do not meet your own criteria of a "Super Stan" for Shough with how loosely you apply that label to people for Bryce in here.  You're like the Final Boss of Super Stans.
