Panthers Pulse CB Josh Thomas

dude played extremely well last year given his supposed level of talent and the situations he was forced into. i'm not comfortable with him starting (and i doubt gettleman is either) but i hope he sticks around. we need quality depth and he's a good start.

He's the only decent thing going about our secondary for next year.

DJ Campbell also showed promise. I think both are good to have to simply see where things can go, not necessarily be insta-starters but great for depth. You never though...they could end up really good.

All things considered, I'm fine with him as our CB2 if we make some moves for a new starter and nickel.

The way I see it, Thomas and Dockery are solid backup corners (both are great on coverage). Captain is also a good backup, but has the potential to be one of the better nickels in the league. Norman, if he gets it together, has more potential than all of them and is worth a shot to see if he improves - or he could suck. With that said, if and when Gamble gets cut, we really need an experienced, starting caliber CB, or somehow get a 3rd round pick to draft one (class is pretty deep this year).

meh

I don't see any DB we have as a #1 now that Gamble is suppose to be cut. Can't imagine anyone covering #1 receivers...

Captain will be there but he won't be tall enough...but given what we got him for Captain has done great, but he should not be the starter....really just rotational.

xavier rhodes time...sounds like an xmen superhero lol

Yah I honestly say we take the best CB available at 14 and look at DT in 2nd round, or line. I think if we let Gamble go, and what's on the market for what we can afford besides Sean Smith, our best bet is Best Corner available come 14. Hell Revis was taken at 14 right?

we have so many holes i dont know what the hell were gonna do. I've come to the conclusion that i would just like to help Cam. Get O-line help and some weapons, whether free agency or draft, were gonna have to mix it up a bit. worry about defense in later rounds. unless of coure someone unreal drops.

    • Many layers my frend- Panthers had a draft recently. They picked 4 defense players. Each player picked 11, 22, 33, 55 as their number. For some players that number match the round or pre-draft round rank, example- Prince was a 3rd rounder and choose 33. Nic was a 1st rounder on some mock drafts and Dan Morgan said they had him as a 1st, he picked 11. Cam Jackson recently switched his number to 55, same as draft and has been telling Dave he wants to be special over and over.  The 44 was to add GOAT feels, thoughts, and more intrigue to this rookie phenomenon. X files was cause it was a great TV show and maybe it was playing when this theory came together.......   I hope this helps!
    • The best things Purdy has are certainly important tools for any QB. His accuracy his timing his decision making etc. I feel like he is a high end Teddy Bridgewater. You can compete and win in the regular season with this especially in a weakened NFC but where his limitations come into focus is when you are trying to contend for a Super Bowl you are going against elite and in some instances generational QB's like Mahomes. And when the time has come for him to go up against Mahomes he simply can't get it done. Now certainly he is not alone in that regard and people will point to another highly regarded QB such as Josh Allen who also cannot get by Mahomes. But the difference I see is Allen is not IMO at a phsyical disadvantage in that matchup whereas Purdy is. And that is with what had been to this point a comically stacked roster around Purdy and let's be clear we cannot understate that regardless of which side of the fence we land on in this debate. Purdy has had a top 5 roster and a top 5 coach. And the last time they went to the Super Bowl they leaned on McCaffrey extremely heavily. Now with what they are having to pay him and divert limited resources elsewhere they face a steep climb to get back to the Super Bowl let alone actually win it.
    • Lonzo mentioned Melo going to the Clippers, but he also said we would draft Dylan Harper and he isn't making it to 4.
