A point to remember about FA

Now isn't the only time to land quality vet band aids....

If Gettlemen creates room it potentially could involve June 1 cuts....

Lots of great vets become avalaible close to the start of the season. That may be where he is looking to make his moves instead of now. Big bucks spent now....better deals potentially right before a season starts with potentially less suitors

I'm not expecting any big FA signings.

The one "big" guy I would like would be G Valasquez from SD, that would instantly fix our OL, but I think he'll get a pretty big contract somewhere.

I don't expect any BIG ones....

I do expect 2 starters to be brought in a least but we need 3. RG, CB and S....I can live with a youg DT rotation if we bring back Dwan and add in the draft

It has been nearly 10 years since June 1st was a significant cutting day. Contracts are now structured in such a way that prevents such a need.

i'm pretty sure a decent amount of quality players last year were june 1st cuts.

Don't understand your point...

I was more referring to the FAs that become available towards the start of the year vs now.

We have a mess on our hands. Most teams aren't in the red 2 consecutive years for a new GM to sort out. June 1 cuts could easily be an option.....only possible way to part with some guys if that is what the new guy though needed to be done.

We had a big June 1 cut last year. Big for us

If we could shore up RG and DT (Edwards would be fine with me) I'd feel good about FA. I liked what we saw at the end of the year with Godfrey at FS and Campbell and SS, might have something to work with there.

However, we haven't made a splash in FA in quite a while so while we have had a change at GM I'm not expecting much, if anything to happen.

If we sign Sammie Lee Hill, I'll consider free agency a success for the Panthers.

It would be icing on the cake if we got smart and offered a contract to Danario Alexander as well. Dude is healthy now and can make a huge impact.

Denario Alexander should be a relatively hot commodity considering that the Bolts put a low RFA tender on him. If he can continue his output, and not get seriously hurt (again), then he could realistically become the best bargain of the draft in my opinion. He is only 24. Being that we are reportedly looking for value, then he would be an obvious choice. He would seemingly be better than either Ramses Barden or Domenik Hixon, because he did a great impression of a WR1.5 in several games.

I did too. Especially the play of D.J. at SS.

Agreed. Very heady player. Cal-Berkley product, but i'll always root for Cal players on our team, Lots of family members graduated from there. D.J. isn't an extremely talented player, but he's got a nose for the game. Really liked Godfrey at Free Saftey.
