I just took a look at the Draft Big board again to see who be available in the second round..........Yes i would do it.

Yea it's a no brainer if you get 31 and 34. You go from having a Draft where you fill two holes with day one starters to three holes with day one starters....

Glad the geniuses are out tonight. Most trade talk is speculation until it is actually done. Most times you hear the rumor teams are talking but we dont know till it is done. ESPECIALLY DRAFT WEEK.

There are a few outlets that have reported that SF is looking to move up.

I would take their 1st, their second and our third (from the Frank Alexander trade). Might sound like a lot but they aren't going to keep everyone they draft any how.

It is most likely going to happen about 15 minutes after 10pm Thursday night, if it happens at all.

31 is kind of low, but I'd take it if we can pick up a 2nd rounder + a 4th or 5th. We can still get a quality DT or WR or S at 31.

My thought is it would be 31/34/4th for our 14....31/34 works out evenly almost, but they would likely throw in another later round pick as well since according to reports one of the main reasons they're trying to move up is to get rid of an excess of picks they don't have room on the roster for.

Just dreaming of the possibilities.....

Hunter/Swearinger/Armstead or Long/Montorri Hughes/Jordan Reed/Brandon McGee/Caleb Sturgis would be a pretty badass draft.....

I would need 31, 34, and 61 or maybe 31, 34, 74 and 93 to even consider doing it. Sliding back from 14 all the way to 31 just to pick up 34 and a middle rounder isn't worth it to me.

What can't miss prospect is worth taking at 14 when you can get two guys of comparable talent level at 31 and 34?

I think people just like draft picks. Is it cool to say things like "package picks" or "for a 1st a3rd and a 6th"? After the third round(and I'm being generous here) the chances of drafting a starter drop drastically. 4th-7th rounders that amount to anything are the exception not the rule. This is why I'm not so enamored with the idea of trading our 1st for theirs and some day three picks. If we keep them higher like 1-3rd round there is some benefit or at least a chance to pull in a starting caliber player. It's why I'll never understand trading proven commodities for late round picks ie: Dwill for a 4th or 5th round draft pick. It's absurd unless they are walking with no compensation.

They would have to give us 34 in the trade too, so your essentially trading a mid first round player for two late first round players. Anything you get after that is gravy imo...

Yeah I get that. My post was more in general not necessarily pointing out a specific scenario.

Gotcha, well I'm on the same page then. Moving down for the sake of picking up late picks just to have quantity isn't smart. IMO we would be trading 2 quality players for 3 with the proposed SF trade scenario so I'm all for that....

Unless Star or Johnson drop id trade back. Austin is an elite talent but not one I think we have the luxury of taking.

Everyone else through the first till mid 2nd is of equal talent. Hell there are guys in the 3rd you could argue are better than late 1sts - 2nd rounder.

If you have an eye for evaluating talent a team like Carolina could pick up 3 quality starters with those picks.
