How would you feel about Tyler Eifert?

You could say the same thing about almost all the wide receivers and safeties. That leaves us picking Richardson.

True... But we don't need a TE the same way we need the other positions. And you have to ask the right question. Is this TE better for us at that spot than the available WR? S? DT? CB? All of these positions should be weighted more than TE. Unless, this TE is a Gronkowski, Graham Gates, Gonzalez type.

Generally speaking, first round tight ends have been average, not game changers.

Vernon Davis, Dallas Clark, and Shockey are the guys in the last decade that I would say became huge impact players for their teams.

Others - Greg Olsen, Heath Miller, Kellen Winslow, Brandon Pettigrew, Mercedes Lewis, Ben Watson, Jermaine Greshman, Dustin Keller, Jerramy Stevens - have had varying degrees of success but I wouldn't call them huge impact players. Olsen and Miller are certainly above average, and others on the list have potential.

Point is, IMO, there are more valuable positions, aligning with greater needs, and greater talent. If Eifert were a once in a decade kind of prospect (Luck, Megatron, etc.) then go for it. I don't think he's that guy.

Good question. While I doubt Gettlemen and Steve Smith are chatting personnel, you hear things if you have been with an organization for 12 years or more. He said that Rosario (receiving TE out of UCLA on our PS) is one to watch. If that is true, remember what Gettlemen said about Victor Cruz, filling needs from your own roster.

I do not think we are drafting a player at 14 (very high for a TE) who will not fill a starting role. However, this is a special TE and the league is leaning that way...who knows? Good question, First day. I would lie if I told you the thought had not entered my mind more than once.

    • I noticed Canales commented on King having a live arm. Weinke coached him and said he could make any throw an NFL team would ask him to make.  His mechanics and general process of throwing looks a little wonky to me though. Haven’t really zoomed in on that though to say more.     Brazzell, his hands look at least decent to me and of course his speed is there.   Love his balance.  Like a cat, always comes down on his feet. Not his butt.
    • If Veabel is the father the name, unfortunately…. well you are looking at Mike Jr.    I feel bad for the husband And the kid though. Especially the kid who had no hand in anything and is just a victim.   Most people would develop some pretty big issues around the chaos of finding out nothing you were told about your father was true and you have been calling the wrong guy Dad.  And trusting your mother, well that is over too.     She should be permanently burned as a reporter or rumor reporter. Whatever she I was.    Who can trust anything she says?   Vrabel has outed himself as a total phony. No credibility whatsoever.
    • My worry is about his concussion. Concussions.  Last thing we need is for him to  be like Jewel. I am looking forward to him benefiting from better players around him in the defense.  Defending QBs under a little more pressure than the last few years.  Better coverage defense in front of him in the middle.
