For the love of everything holy, please stop talking about "tape"

When I was 15 a buddy of mine gave me my first porno VHS tape.

One night my parents went out to eat so I put it in the VCR and began doing what 15 year olds do.

I heard a mangling sound come from the VCR, it had begun eating the tape and it was stuck inside the VCR. I then hear my parents drive up, they were home early.

I sat there all night hoping they didn't press play on the VCR. When they went to bed, I got the scissors and cut it.

Ever since that day I have had a hatred in my heart for tapes of all kind.

Should have let your parents join you.

Yea i agree, but you can still get some valuable information even from "highlight" reels. Mostly just fundamental stuff, but still valuable. But yes, no one has access to the necessary camera angles to accurately assess a player.

You are correct that you can still get good informaiton from the youtube. However, you don't see the other side of the coin. The plays and times where the player made mistakes...did not look good...etc.

You do not get a well grounded view of the whole player.

I can send you and AE highlight clip that makes you go WOW.....doubt you would want to draft him again.

Thanks for sharing. Your hatred for tape is understandable. Even under the cirucmstances, I bet it was hard to cut a porno, especially since they were hard to come by at 15.

Yes, that was intentional.

To my knowledge, no one here has access to coaches' film. That is "tape". YouTube clips are not "tape". Stop talking about "tape" or "game film". It makes you look like a fuging moron.

That's all.

This post is made every single year, and it's just as stupid this year as it is every year....

The OP is 100% accurate.

You can make a highlight reel of damn near any decent college player and make them look like an All Pro....that is a fact.

I'm not saying it isn't a fact, it's just a pretty well known that none of us have game tape of college prospects. Also, there's a difference in the highlights that the OP is talking about, and what most of us are watching. I would be willing to bet that the OP has watched the same game cut ups all of us has, since he's had an opinion on many prospects....

Agreed.

I pretty much am wowed by every guy I look at based on his highlight reel.

That's true, but it's all semantics. Who really gives a fug? At this point everyone knows what "tape" is in the context of the Huddle. It's less insufferable than all the grammatical errors in my opinion (but we put up with that every day). For example: to vs. too, or---my personal favorite---we're vs. were. It's not that big of a deal. Go with the flow and accept it.
