Why draft a WR when Hakeem Nicks is going to come home this coming offseason.

 

That'd be nice but the Giants value Nicks more than they do Cruz. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if Nicks got a deal before Cruz.

DT was more important than a WR this year.

Next year a WR comes front and center and you can no longer run away from it in the draft.

No wide receivers that came out this year are on the level of Watkins and Lee. And they got one more year of college.

WR was and is a need. We didn't take one in the first because a top 5 guy at a crucial need fell to us. Most likely the WRs Gman thought were better than our current group were gone by the time we picked in the 2nd.

Granted there has been more busts recently (Colbert, Williams, Jarrett), there have been successful ones in the past. (HOF) Lynn Swann, Curtis Conway, (HOF) Frank Gifford, Keyshawn Johnson, Bob Chandler,Earl Mccullough.

 

Colbert, Williams or Jarrett never will come close to the talent that Lee possesses. I would argue that all three were possession receivers while Lee is more of a playmaker with speed, elusiveness, vision. Besides, #3 receivers never really had a chance on a John Fox team. Actually don't think they get much of a chance in 90% of any teams.

I would add to this, but everyone would just call me a homer....

 

I will say however that Marqise Lee has a lot of room to improve still which is scary.  He didn't really start playing WR till his Senior year at Serra due to Robert Woods and George Farmer being on the same team.  The kid is an absolute freak and wants it way more than any of the recent busts from USC....

 

Doesn't really matter tho, we won't be in position to Draft him.....
