GM confident in Cam Newton aka Joe Person is a moron

Reed's rep took a hit when he famously wrote that the Panthers would never sign a player like Keyshawn Johnson, and they signed him 24 hours later.  That, plus occasionally using bits and pieces of player bios from Panthers.com in his stories with no citation.

He's been better in the years since (and after getting the AP job).

i remember that and then him disappearing for a pretty good while....maybe a year? i dunno. it was a long time, tho. after that he came back and turned quite respectable and reliable, which he really wasn't, even prior to that keyshawn deal. i wish he did more with the panthers.

One of the players should whip his ass. Come on Kraken.

Fade in. Joe Person sends a tweet, chuckles to self. Mutters

"ESPN headline baby."

Suddenly, loud footsteps are heard coming from off screen. Greg Hardy plows into Person causing him to fold like a rag doll. They then burst through a wall & colapse a row of cubicles. Hardy stands over Person's crumpled form & yells,

"Context Joey! Get your poo together!

The words "Kraken Observer DE" Appear on screen with the sound of pads cracking.

Wow, just saw the segment on ESPN about the press conference. Seems like they just couldn't wait for the opportunity to rip Cam.

If that was any other QB those comments would've been brushed under the rug. I bet they're going to be talking about it tomorrow too.

gantt was/is a prick, but he knew his stuff, actually had connections, and didn't spin stuff trying to get a headline or quoted.

gantt>>>>>>person. observor made a huge mistake replacing hin for that clown.

Gantt had connections and put in a lot of effort but never knew crap about football and was and still is a miserable grudge maker and keeper.

Why they can't get a guy who knows a thing or two can only be tied to the amount of money they want to pay for the position.

In my mind, the Kraken speaks Latin.

Because he's the fuging Kraken.

    • It’s wild to me that so many of you guys are threatened by the idea of an opposing team fan who is polite in 2025. He’s been posting here on and off for years, usually when our teams play each other which hasn’t been for a while. I’d maybe understand this treatment if it was a falcons or saints fan, but packers fans in general are one of the nicer fan bases as long as you aren’t another NFC north team (especially the bears).
    • Some players excel on the big stage, while others freeze and succumb to the pressure. I’m not convinced Cam took a dive. I think he didn’t handle the stage very well. The pressure got to him and he folded. He wouldn’t be the first quarterback or player to struggle in a Super Bowl. Two HOF examples - John Elway and Jim Kelly. The 2002 MVP, Rich Gannon, threw 5 interceptions against the Bucs. Poor performances happen.  Unless of course you believe all these players threw the games they played in, but if that occurred, surely someone by now would have admitted taking a dive? 🤷‍♂️
    • It was always a matter of time with Cam’s playing style and a shorter shelf life than passers that protect themselves. I suppose Cam could have still been playing in 2028 ten years after the hit took place, but he would need to have evolved as a quarterback and become more of a passer than the dual threat maestro he was. It’s sad because it makes us think of what could have been, but I do feel it was always a matter of time until all the hits took their toll.
