After listening to Nortman, I'm convinced he is the absolute whitest guy on the team.

@Panthers: LB Chase Blackburn says he's looking forward to getting used to his teammates in live action tomorrow vs. Chicago.

@Panthers: Blackburn: "I'll be able to learn how they play and how my new teammates communicate in game."

@Panthers: Blackburn will start at SLB tomorrow, but hopes to see some time at WLB and MLB at some point during the game.

@Panthers: '@Blackburn5793 on rookie @AJKlein47: "He's played very well. He's physical and smart." Blackburn was also impressed w/ Klein's versatility.

@Panthers: Blackburn praised Luke Kuechly's football instincts and strength. Said that even after big rookie year, he's still very motivated.

@Panthers: Blackburn also compared Kuechly to former #Giants teammate Antonio Pierce.

@jjones9: Yep. Blackburn just said he's liked what he's seen from the rookie RT @sdanner52: @jjones9 Will AJ Klein play any tomorrow?

Armanti beating Norman for a TD? Now I'm worried.

i'm thinking that this says more about AE than norman. armanti has impressed everyone who has gone out to watch this year and it's not the same stuff as previous years. he's making tough catches, fighting for the ball, running the right routes...pretty much he's doing everything he should be doing and he's doing it in pads.  still lots of doubters, but from the sound of it, those that go in as doubters this year after watching him come away believers. i've moved to the open-minded side of things where he is concerned just because of the consistency of the reports that hasn't been there before. the only question now is, can he do it in a real game situation?

Haven't heard much about Ginn anymore. What's up with him?

doing really well, from what i've heard. seems to have built a good chemistry with cam early on. people have had him penciled in as the #3 since the first couple days. everyone has been impressed with his speed. he's got the lead on the return job as well (not that there was any real competition). people aren't talking a whole lot about ginn now, but i think it's got more to do with them being used to him doing well. still making some drops, but he's also catching a lot as well.

hixon didn't seem to have much in the way of a connection with cam for most of camp, but it seems like the last week it's gotten better.

big stories have been consistently about armanti and brandon williams as well as the improved chemistry between cam and olsen. also lafell seems to have taken it up a notch.

we usually have a lot of fluff going on, but there is something different about the tone of things this year. the positive reports out of camp seem to be more genuine and less forced than before. the players seem to be more focused and work centered than before as well.

@josephperson: Jon Beason is shooting for Week 1 vs SEA but hasn't ruled out playing in a preseason game.

That bag policy may last 2 games.

It is here to stay. I am currently working as an apprentice to the Patriots' head of security and all teams are being forced to comply (some against their will) with the rules set forth by the NFL and its security personnel.

Also, the NFL will be implementing new 'wanding' techniques on all of its patrons going into stadiums this season and pre-season.

@jjones9: See folks crashing on Beason saying he's never healthy when the 3x Pro Bowler started 65 straight games at MLB before his Achilles tear

@jjones9: He's had tough luck with injuries the past two years, but let's not act like he's Mr. Glass.

@jjones9: Played through knee and shoulder injuries last year til he became a liability on the field.

@jjones9: That doesn't mean he'll come back from this surgery 100%. Don't know if he even expects that. But to say he's "always injured" is inaccurate

    • Nothing wrong with starting to look for bodies early. It's a long injury filled season. I doubt we get through unscathed.
    • We're in alignment regarding Thielen not being a game changer/breaker for the Panthers. Getting the ball into hands of playmakers like TMac and XL is going to open up things more than it is getting it to Thielen underneath (or letting him go after 50/50 balls 20yds downfield in his mid-30s). However, in a room where the other guys are two second year guys and two rookies, having a reliable vet that they can learn from is just as important as it is for the QB to have as a reliable third option. I can see that being worth $8.5M (just 3%) of the $279.2M cap... especially when looking at what's left out there: https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/_/position/wr However, the idea that the team is forcing production to Thielen and leading to losses isn't supported by the data. Targets, not receiving yards, are how you can tell if a player is being "force fed." In the two games mentioned, let's look at the other players available... vs. TB 10 targets - Adam Thielen 9 targets - David Moore 8 targets - Tommy Tremble, Xavier Legette 3 targets - Jonathon Brooks 1 target - Dan Chisena, Feleipe Franks, Stephen Sullivan vs. PHI 11 targets - Adam Thielen 8 targets - Xavier Legette 5 targets - Chuba Hubbard, David Moore 2 targets - Tommy Tremble 1 target - Ja'Tavion Sanders, Deven Thompkins There isn't exactly a bounty of other names to throw the ball to. In those games, AT was one of the top 2 WRs. Diontae had been gone by that point.   So... yea. Agreed that Thielen isn't exactly carrying the team in his mid-30s, but it's undeniable that he was the most reliable target last season that still has quite a bit of value this season. Whether or not that value is reflected in a manner folks think on the contract is going to come down to personal taste. However, the idea that the team was forcing production to AT and that was the reason behind some losses couldn't be further from the truth.
    • I would also add that I think it's more than money.  AT has looked absolutely miserable out there at times, and there was a lot of speculation he would demand to be traded.  Personally, I thought he was a lock to be moved last year.  Maybe his hamstring is the only thing that prevents that from happening. The fact that he's not only willing to come back and play, but excited about it, really bodes well for Bryce.  AT is a veteran and he knows the game.  If he didn't have confidence in Bryce, I guarantee you he wouldn't be in a Panther uniform this year.  I'll take that as a positive.
