O-Line Depth

Williams can play RG or switch to RT if anything happens to Bell. If Gross is injured then Bell can move to LT, and Williams to RT. I'm just hoping Kalil is ok and can make it through the season. Wharton would be a good backup at OG but the last time I saw him he looked as fat as I've ever seen him. Plus he has had ACL and MCL injuries in the past and those knees have a lot of mileage and weight on them.

Does anyone know Otah's status? Half kidding.

Lol...the guys talking about cuts are awesome!  As if the cuts are going to magically produce a starting quality guard or tackle that will come play for us.  Or even adequate depth.  Do I think we'll sign someone?  Absolutely, we have to...do I think that person will probably resemble a Jeff Byers rather than a Dwan Edwards?  Yup.

The thing is that unless we make a trade, no one is coming to rescue us.  That was one of John Fox's favorite lines, and while those lines were annoying they were rarely wrong and usually very insightful.  No one is coming.  Get over it.  There's no master plan in place where Gettlemen is going to magically pull a rabbit out of his hat and turn it into an offensive linemen.

We are going into the season with what we have.  They are hoping that Williams can improve and be a solid-at-best player.  They just want to make it thru this season.  Now that Campbell went down we'll probably have to sign Wharton or some other castoff.  But face it, no one's coming.

The offensive line is just like the defensive line last year at this point.  Which is why we are heading in the right direction but we aren't close yet.  Still a 7-9 team with a 10-6 ceiling.  Sucks too because with a good offensive line and maybe one good corner I think we could be a 9-7 team with a 12-4 ceiling.

Dwan Edwards was a cut. Just saying.

Cap Cuts do happen after TC.

You might want to rethink your whole post to sound less stupid.

We brought in Jeremy Bridges late one year and he was a solid point of our Oline for 2 years.

Let Gettlemen do his magic before we say this can't happen or that can't happen.

Of course it's possible, but counting on it for such an important thing as the offensive line is a bit of a gamble.

OG really?? If guard is our biggest worry then I'm not to worried. There will be guys out there after Cuts.

Every team is counting on something. No team in the league is without  a hole right now. I'd rather wait and see what will be on the market. Then Panic and  overpay for a guy sitting on his couch now.

People need to relax and let it play out before they panic.

I'm not panicking. I just think we are wafer thin on the OL and haven't given it enough attention in quite a while.

We don't know what they are doing or where their attention is.

Maybe they are being patient and waiting on the market to get better.

All that is out there now is guys coming off major injuries, guys looking for more money then their worth, and guys who are in retirement mode more then football mode.

There are a lot of camp battles that will either be decided by age, or money. Some of the guys who lose those battles will be let go and available to help us. It  will happen every year now because of the new CBA. The good GM's know this. And I think we have a good GM.

What is the deal with Wharton......did he want too much money, or was he not healthy? There has to be a reason why the Panthers did not offer him a contract. At the very least, he would be a good backup.

They probably tried to bring him in as a backup and pay him as such, but Wharton knowing Carolina, knew someone would get injured, and he would hav to start. And he wouldn't get paid enough for it. Haha! Just a guess.

    • After last season, it was the same question. And the answer most people came to was "If he doesn't make the playoffs, he's gone." He made the playoffs. No matter how it was done, we made it to the playoffs. He's safe. He's going to have a chance to keep working this out, even if next season isn't a playoff one.  I think we'll do better next year than we did this season. There's something being built here.
    • The NBA is a very fickle league. Kon is one of the hottest rookies in years and beyond just his play on the court he is a very steady competitor and that translates to the rest of the team. That has been a glaring absence with the culture of this franchise through the bulk of the LaMelo Ball years that's just being completely blunt and realistic. The enigma of LaMelo Ball is he is entering year 6 and still either red hot or ice cold. We need him to find that sweet spot. Logic dictates the Hornets will want to see this core again next year. But the clock is beyond ticking at this point. It's put up or shut up. Especially considering what the Thunder managed to do recently. I'm hopeful they can keep these wins rolling in and get some much needed playoff experience under their belts which will help substantially.
    • I think as long as the Panthers are competitive with Canales they should keep him. Pepper needs to repair his/the teams image as a place prized free agents aren't hesitant to consider. Just dont do any crazy poo for a few years.
