Should we be worried?

I can't help but feel trepidation after watching the last couple of preseason games - particularly on the offense. Yes I know they are preseason. Yes I know we aren't opening the playbook. But I have to say the offense looks way behind just like last preseason and I'm afraid we're going to get off to that same, slow start we do every year under Rivera. I'm especially concerned about Cam's play. Similar high passes sailing over receivers heads and pocket jitters. It's year 3 now. Shouldn't he be more accurate by now and have better pocket presence???? Sure I know the offensive line isn't top notch which brings up another point - we are just an injury or two away from having a complete disaster to our offensive line. I'll stay positive and hope that Cam and crew get their game face on at the start of the regular season. I just hope we don't start out like we've done the last few years. Rivera won't make it out of week 4 if that happens...

yes. the panthers are going to go 0-16. ron rivera will turn into a cyborg and blow up the stadium with lasers from his dick. charlotte will fall into a bottomless black hole and north carolina will literally explode into a greasy fireball of bojangles and ruined dreams. we are all going to die. prepare yourself.

I really think you are exaggerating.

I know people are going to blow up on you but I actually agree...they didnt look good.  I know the arguments but a lot of other teams looked much better with their starting squad.  Might not mean anything, but it doesnt change the fact that they didnt look that good.

This is the greatest post for preseason "chicken littles" that I have ever seen.  Dank-U mista.  Thank you!

you can worry all you want, but the fact is, it is pointless because you have no say or control in what happens.  we can only go along for the ride.  i tend to limit my worries to personal life where i at least have some input or control.

i like rivera okay, but i dont like the fact the new GM had no say in the coach.  that is what bugged me more than anything this offseason.

Knew I was going to flamed for starting this... OK I'll say it - I have no confidence we are going to get off to this 'fast start' that everyone is hoping for. I frankly have no confidence in Rivera after seeing the same old crap last couple games training camp. Cam getting picked left and right, overthrowing receivers. Don't have much confidence in him either right now. Cam + Rivera = LOSING GAMES!! Change either one and maybe we can get somewhere but I see a disaster heading our way until then. We are going to effing SUCK! Flame away!!!!

    • What's wrong with Damien Lewis? He played pretty well last year.
    • Official NFL Cuts Tracker Deadline for roster cuts is Tuesday, August 26th. At this moment (Friday, August 22nd) the only interesting names I see are... K Caden Davis (BUF) RB Ameer Abdullah (SF) WR Equanimeous St. Brown (SF) WR Donovan Peoples-Jones (NO) LB Khaleke Hudson (TEN) Abdullah, St. Brown, Peoples-Jones I don't exactly think we should cut anybody for but it was just interesting seeing those names. Khaleke Hudson was on the Panthers' practice squad last year I believe and might have even gotten called up? And of course, Caden Davis just because of the question mark at kicker this season for the team.
    • I'll say 6/10. I don't know that we learned a whole lot about this team during preseason that we didn't already know. We didn't play the starters enough to really get a feel for what to expect. We had one good drive against the Browns, one 3-and-out and two 3-and-outs against the Texans. That's an extremely small sample size across 3 games regardless of performance. My camp/preseason takeaways: Jalen Coker might be the best WR on this team and is certainly no worse than #2. Nic Scourton is going to be a good player for us. Possibly very good. Bobby Brown was our best free agent addition. Jack Plummer isn't an NFL QB. Not even a practice squad guy. Having anyone other than Canales and Evero call plays was a really stupid and pointless idea. Our depth is largely non-existent, especially on defense. The three areas we actually DO have depth are on the OL, in the WR corp. and at RB. I can't fathom why Dan Morgan didn't do more to upgrade ILB during the offseason. We better hope Lathan Ransom steps up at FS because if he doesn't we have a massive hole. For all the hype surrounding Sanders/Evans, Tommy Tremble is still the best TE on the roster. I'm only slightly less enthusiastic going into the regular season than I was a month ago. I think our starters on offense are solid and we should be pretty good there unless Bryce totally regresses. On defense, we're probably bottom 3rd in the league if 100% healthy and significantly worse than that if injuries become an issue. We badly need at least two of our rookies to become high-level players early (ideally one of the pass rushers + Ransom) and at least 2 of our free agent additions (ideally Moehrig + Bobby Brown) to be significant upgrades over last year. Call me pessimistically optimistic 😆
