Seattle week 1 won't be too much of a challenge. They always suck week 1. I know this because up here in Washington thats all I hear...last year they lost in AZ, and a few years back they lost in Jax. They are like us compared to week 1...slow starts. and by the way...they are horrid on the road.

The team averaged 4.3 . Run vs. going against that secondary, yes please.

RBs averaged 2.2.

That was because Newton averaged 6 a carry...made them look better in the box score. He also lead us in rushing.

Williams averaged 1 yard a carry.... Collectively, all RBs averaged 2.2 yards a carry and again, set up the Hawks with the game winner.

Running the backs meant punting.... At least Newton having the ball meant we had a shot to do something. He could run or pass

No I was at the game and have it recorded.

Oh ok...yeah Gettleman has gotta do something about this offensive line, but at this point I don't think there's much he can do. This is gonna be a long year if the offense wants to go ground and pound with a terrible offensive line.

I'll take a 1 point win. This is a team in the top 5 of power rankings and I have seen them ranked #1.

1-0 would be a huge start. Could be the game of the year for us.

I agree and the Panthers should look at it that way.

They are at home.

They have a team travelling across the country to play a 1pm game.

I'm sick and tired of the 'its just one game mentality' and I'm sick and tired of people who say 'we don't match up'.

I don't care about that.  The Panthers are a NFL team.

Get 'er done or don't waste my money another year.

If 0-4 happens, we could be looking at a coaching change, so yeah, a wasted season would probably be on its way.

Sean Mcdermott come on down.. Lol how ironic would it be if Rivera didnt hire Hue Jackson as O coordinator for fear of being replaced by him mid season only to have Sean Mcd looking great as D coordinator, he becomes interim HC

Neither Bell nor Silatolu are starter material yet we did nothing to upgrade during the offseason. Did we actually get rid of hurney or is he still calling the shots?

You cannot fix everything in one year. D-tackle usually struggles the first year, top talent offensive tackles usually plays very solid as rookies. So it looks like Gettleman is setting up the team for 2014 with addressing the defense first.

Not saying we will suck this year, the play off is possible and once in any team can get hot. Gettleman was just not in position to fix everything after Hurney in one year.

Why all the negative talk and whining.  Can't we wait until we have a reason?  Everyone says to ignore preseason yet we get these threads as soon as we don't play well.  Get a clue about what we are using the preseason to accomplish and you won't be ready to slit your wrists.  Step away from the ledge, it isn't a big deal.

Setting it up for 2014....basically means most likely you are setting it up for your next coach. Given Ron's present hot seat

You don't ignore everything. If it has proven you suck at something in real games and the following offseason you do nothing to fix it....and you suck practicing basic aspects of it....you can talk about it

    • Pytor kochetkov assigned to Chicago for conditioning stint. Wonder if he gets playing time in the playoffs if Bussi or Freddy flounders
    • What specific LT at 19 are all of the OT Stan’s wanting? Be specific. All have issues and are not guaranteed to improve the OL.. The chances of one of these LT’s who are projected at 19 (Proctor, Lomu) being a bust is much higher than a guy like Lemon/Concepcion imo. Do you really want to draft a kid who has weight struggles along with lateral movement issues? And the other who was a shitty run blocker vs Big 12 competition? Morgan and Co. want to see how Rasheed Walker plays.. They also want to see how Icky’s rehab goes.. There’s a lot of  “wait and see at OT”  We don’t have the luxury for our 1st round pick being a backup. We lack top end talent. Morgan and the others have made it known they want to win now. For that reason, I’m almost positive we punt on OT in the first this year and worry about it next year in the first round if need be.    Thieneman would be ideal. He’s a natural “center field” safety with great coverage skills. For the posters who want trade up for Downs…Do you realize he struggles in coverage? He’s more of a box safety. We already have two of those players.. I wouldn’t mind trading in front of the Vikings for the Thieneman though.. Next need would be DT, but I don’t see the value there at 19.. Same with edge. WR at #19 is very realistic. Who would improve this team more than Lemon/Concepcion? You could argue a slot CB, but the value isn’t great there either. People tend to forget the Seattle Seahawks game.. Yes BY sucked, but no one was getting open.. We could use a quick savvy route runner to beat man coverage. TMAC and Coker are great, but consistently creating separation vs Man Coverage is not their strength.
    • Freddie owned this game. My 1st star.
