I don't get how some fans can trash Jake. In his prime, Jake was a hell of a QB. And before the 2008 playoffs debacle, Jake had one of the best QB rating in the Postseason.

Also, I give Flacco a huge nod over Dalton.

I think he's right on a lot of points as much as I love the team, especially concerning an identity.  

 

We honestly don't have good coaches and still don't have youthful high ceiling playmakers other than Cam.  Barner is sort of a start but that's it.    

 

Stew is injured, D'lo is consistently inconsistent and starts seasons off slow with big 20+ plusers to keep his avg up, and we as a team are used to starting seasons off slow other than a few years in our franchise.

 

On defense, its the opposite and I love what we have.  I also think we put the league on notice like Foxy's first year when we went 7-9 with Rodney.

That wasnt meant as a knock on Jake....he just was the caliber of QB I think Dalton can be.

I am not a Flacco fan. For example, pre Tommy John Jake IMO was better.

I do find it hard that he calls Mark Ingram a weapon for the Saints but never mentions Olsen as a weapon for us.

 

 

 

Also I would like to state this Myth that Payton coming back as coach is going to fix the Saints defense.

 

Isn't he a offensive "guru"? How is him coming back actually helping? It's not like their offense sucked last year. They broke all the records of "The Greatest Show on Turf" last year and was the 2nd best offense in the league.

Like I say I don't care what the national Media thinks. Most of them don't know who's on the team. Part of that is our fault for losing so much lately. But even when we were winning they kept saying we had the best Dline in the game when we didn't.

 

We get no credit for matching up pretty well with every team in this division nor do we get credit for having the best defense in the division.

 

Sharper Actually said the Bucs have a better defense when they don't have a proven pass rush and lost their best run defender and best pass rusher. But of course they added the biggest name so they must have a better defense. Or so the national media would have you think.

We have talked about identity and lack thereof for the last 5 drafts.

When you draft a QB and say he is going to be the focal point and you are going to pass more, but then you spend a billion dollars on RB's while ignoring the OLine which is key to making either of the scenarios work, then your only identity at that point is one of shortsightedness or worse

I can't say that I disagree with him. We have yet to establish an identity, offensively or defensively. And yes, without Steve Smith, it would be difficult to have a passing game. Smith opens things up for LaFell. Hopefully, we are moving towards our identity.
