Yet..I have said (in not so many words) that JC isnt the caliber of player that Luke is....so whats your point?

I wont be one of the people who poo on a guy for not being a phenom. Luke is in a class all by himself in regards to his ability and game readiness moving up from college. Clausen isnt. That said, Luke had Beason and Davis to learn from/question. ( not to say he needed it) Who did JC have....Matt Moore?

Gimme a break, 99% of Panther Nation thought Jimmy Clausen was the second coming of Joe Montana. The city of Charlotte, Mel Kiper and fans of this team went nuts when he was drafted. PSL sales went through the roof. Having someone to learn from and take your rookie season off is a luxury, not a given.

'Nuff said... please continue to

Clausen was a 2nd round pick.  QBs taken in the 2nd are usually looked at as guys who need a year to develop. I dislike Jimmy just as much as the next guy but he never really was given a fair shot. He was thrown into the fire with rookie wideouts and an all pro receiver who hated his guts. He's shown no improvement over the years but we didn't really even give him a decent chance to succeed in his rookie year.

Realistically Jimmy should be remembered as one of the biggest busts of all time. People were touting him as a future superstar and the next Kurt Warner. Hell, there was even a debate on whether he should be taken at #1 instead of Sam Bradford. The only reason he fell as far as he did is because at that time not a lot of teams were looking for QBs.

Get real this team has sucked since 09 , regardless of who the qb has been. It has been a poor ran franchise for a long time now.

My mistake, meant to say 2nd round...

However, looking at the 2nd round QBs taken since 2008, most of them were starters as rookies....

I think only about half of them were starters.  Brian Brohm, Pat White, and some guy drafted by Denver were not starters, while Andy Dalton, Kaepernick, and Clausen were starters in their rookie season.  I might have missed one or two though.

2012: Luck, Griffin, Tannehill, Weeden,

2011: Cam, Locker, Gabbert, Ponder

2010: Bradford

2009: Stafford, Sanchez, Freeman

Kaepernick sat his rookie year...

    • No PFF grades up yet but the all-22 is up. Just watched the first passing play (Q1 6:45) from 3rd & 2 on the CAR 37 where Bryce scrambled for the first. Dowdle whiffed going low on the blitzing Oluokun, which forced Bryce to scramble. If not for that, that ball was going to XL on a corner route that he'd have been open. Concerning though that Bryce looked like he was staring the route down (which he definitely did on the first INT of the day). This doesn't absolve Bryce as he made several flat out bad plays throughout the game. Also rather damning is that of the 40 drop backs, according to the filters there was pressure on 16 vs. 24 w/o pressure... though I'm questioning the validity of the early filters because the very first play I mentioned is flagged as "no pressure" when there's very clearly pressure. The first INT was a bad play by Bryce. He thought Murray had started dropping deep to cover Brycen Tremayne, but Murray read Bryce's eyes the whole time which stayed on XL. Murray "broke the rule" here and made a play, but he also wouldn't have made that play had Bryce not been staring XL down for most of the route.   Might not get an all-22 review post up until later in the week. I've got a conference next week that I'm prepping for and the family is still reeling from one of our pets passing over the weekend.
    • We're just bad. Canales is not a good coach. Morgan is not a good GM. Young is not a good quarterback.  We haven't drafted well in a long time. All this stuff adds up. And now we're in a situation where no matter who we hire they're going to be starting at a negative because they're going to have to draft good talent and fill the entire team up.  I don't know guys I think we could be bad for a long time.
    • So true.  I would love to have Jim, Dan, or Sean here.  So sick of stinking it up for the first 8 games and then fixing things just to make sure we dont have a top draft pick so we have to trade the farm if we want a top pick.
