Seahawk Fans Expecting Blowout in Week 1

So I was talking to a couple guys I work with from Seattle today, and they are not even remotely concerned with the Panthers in Week 1.  Their comments basically revolved around things like "We should just hope their defense doesn't injure any of our guys because they are so nasty" to "I doubt you guys can even top 200 yards in offense against us" to "Russell Wilson is going to carve up your joke of a secondary (which does have some legitimate plausibility) to "Cam will be pouting with his towel on his head by the end of the game."

Heck, one of them didn't even realize they played us Week 1.  I think most of their fans are solely focused on their home opener in Week 2 against the 49ers.  They have certainly fallen hook, line, and sinker on the Super Bowl hype out there.  I hope that is the case, because I think they are in for a rude awakening.

I told them both the Panthers Defense was nasty this year too, and they better hope they can protect their 5'10" Golden Boy back there.  Oh yeah, and there is that small detail that we should have beaten them last year had Cam not made the worst throw of his professional career to Hartsock in the endzone.

Anyway, prepare to be disrespected big time over the next 2 weeks.  Seahawk fans and the national media are going to promote this game as basically a fifth preseason game for the Seahawks as they prepare for San Fran in Week 2.

Opening Day can not get here fast enough.  Here's to proving everyone wrong.

Does any team overlook opening weekend?

I mean some show up unprepared in general, but no one overlooks opening weekend.

i can see them being more interested in week two.

they've got the 49ers in seattle. it's a more important game.

I don't really blame them. A lot of people think they're the most talented team in the league while our offense can barely even move the chains. If they aren't careful though they're going to fall into the same trap that we did last year though; having massive expectations and then after week 1 feeling like absolute poo.

    • Reasonable. I mean I didn’t see a clear path to relief this season myself. As I have typed already, I think the QB FA class is more interesting next season and that draft is supposed to be stacked as well. There just weren’t many options this year.  When you have Tepper to contend with you have to tread lightly around this unless you are 100% certain and willIng to stake your job on it.   There were a couple of outings that helped Bryce a lot in terms of  thinking maybe he can do this, and if you are a supporter you are giving them a lot of weight. You are likely to think just get him some more help and he can do that every week. Which I think Tepper falls into that category.  And the playoffs, division champs, regardless of the way I see that, the supporters will also give that a lot of weight.    And the big one, the atmosphere In BOA for that WC game, Tepper had to be soiling himself over that. If you pulled Bryce out right now you had better be right and your new guy had better make the playoffs and look good doing it or you will be gone and your chance to build your old team back into respectability will be gone too.  So here we have Pickett on a one year deal, and Grier and King. I understand it.
    • Well, seeing as we play the Lions at home this year, pretty sure that rumor isn't true.
