First Take even knows Rivera isn't the Answer.

Even Stephen A. Smith and Skip Scam Bayless both agree that Rivera isn't headcoach material. Stephen made the point that Rivera is a good coordinator but there was a reason all the other teams passed on him to be a head coach. It is laughable when two of the worst at what they and are apart of the national media that pay little attention know what the problem with the Panthers is.

It has been 34 games, I think that is a fair amount of time to judge a HC, especially with the team Rivera had coming in and it's gotten better since he has been here. But they play exactly the same (maybe worst) as they did 3 years ago. That means Rivera has no real personalty to take over the team and make it his.

if they watched our games then they would know coaching was not the problem.

If you have watched all 34 Rivera has coached....he isn't a NFL HC sadly.

Dang good DC. Very bad HC. I have been a huge Ton supporter bc I wanted him to turn a corner but he doesn't have it.

He is a good X's and O's guy and knows technically what you "should" call in a given scenario. Good coaches know you don't always follow the textbook

2-18

That's the Panthers record in the last 20 games decided by a TD or less.

Clearly not a coaching problem at all. Don't have the balls to win the game when your up 3 points on 3&5 by getting a first down. Allowing the Panthers then to run the clock and kick a FG with little time on the clock or just score a TD and make it 2 possessions... You settle for the FG and leave 1:20 on the clock up by less than TD. The players certainly don't make those decisions.

Exactly how I feel.  Great coach, not good Head Coach.

I like the guy... I wanted him to succeed.  He hasn't and isn't going to .

He needs to go back to being a DC.  No slight on him, but some aren't cut out to be head coaches.

who's job is it to come up with a game plan their players can win with?

who's job is it to make sure the players are capable of carrying out that gameplan?

who's job is it to make adjustments during the game when their plan isn't working out right?

who's job is it to prepare the players to handle clutch situations?

who's job is it to make sure that their players are in the right position to win?

who's job is it to make sure their players play disciplined football and avoid dumb mistakes?

who's job is it to look at game tape afterward, find out what works and didn't work...including decisions they made...and then change what they do?

who's job is it to look at what their players are failing to execute and make sure that they do better the next week or formulate a game plan that their player can execute?

who's job is it to make sure that they can win with the guys they have on the team?

yeah....rivera hasn't been the problem. *insert roll eye gif here*

if this team fails consistently, esp. that many close games, it's on the head coach.

it's a shame that teflon ron has no self-accountability whatsoever and finds a way to pass it on to someone else.

it's a shame that these players have to deal with that.

it's a shame that PSL owners are trapped yet again having to give up hard earned money to pay to go see this poo that rivera lets fall on the field.

meh....

agree w/ this

I've tried to convince myself that Chico can be a successful NFL coach man but it just ain't gonna happen. At least not here in Charlotte.

    • Not sure who said it first, but Tepper is the correct answer. Still, I'm gonna go with Kasay keeping it inbounds. If, you subscribe to the butterfly effect version of time travel consequences.... When we win SBXXXVIII everybody's lives change: Moose never breaks his leg, We win it all again in 05. Tommy Jone is unknown and Peppers stays home, Champs once more 2008. No artificial pig heart turning JR into a creepy weirdo, no lockout, no Clausen. Fox and Jake ride off into the sunset on their own terms. No 2-14, no #1 pick. But, no laptop, no Blinn, 3 years behind The Golden Calf of Bristol, we still get Cam. JR let's him grow his locs like he always wanted, Smitty sees Cam in a new light. Dreads swinging, (and Smitty with his 3 Lombardis behind him) Cam is old enough to get those calls. No Manning narrative, Cotchery TD, PI against Talib on Philly Brown, 10,000 RTP calls and Kony Ealy SB50 MVP. No Jeans Fridays, no Tepper. KB doesn't slip on his own meatsweat mid-route in SD, Cam becomes the 1st QB to win 10 straight SBs. Retiring after being elected 47th president of the US of A, Cam ushers in the Permanent Proletarian Revolution across the globe, Xi Jinping bows in awe. "ẄøŘƙƐṛ§ őF ŧĤə ŵØRłð, ŮŊÏŦƐ!!!"
    • Yeah your right the owner was copping hand shandies while all this was going down
    • I mean not surprised the Patriots took him in and aren't trying to push him out. They've been the most morally bankrupt team in the NFL for a long while. Wouldn't be surprised if Vrabel has his own dirt on Kraft/Brady and other assholes from that organization over the last couple decades.
