Who must go for the Panthers to be better?

I'm pretty sure we're all in agreement that Ron is high on the list, and if you're not, well, stop huffing paint thinner and come back to reality. He sucks. He'll instantly get scooped up to be a DC for the Giants and make that unit top 7 or whatever but he can't cut the mustard as a HC. However, beside that, we know this team is still not perfect and there are some players I feel have been here far too long and haven't played nearly as well as they're getting paid for. Godfrey's season (and possibly career) ending injury last week should be the punctuation of his tenure here, we have backs that either sit on the sidelines with nagging injuries or tweet jabs at former coaches while they're fumbling game winning drives away, Beason may never recover from blowing out his achilles in 2011, etc. The point is that Gettleman's going to have a lot of work to do this offseason, much more than he had to do for his first one, since JR basically gave him permission to make a draft pick and that's about it. I'm creating this thread to see where everybody's head is at. I think this offseason is going to be a great opportunity to finally get a competent pair of safeties in free agency, and also the corners are not too shabby either. We could basically patchwork a reliable secondary to go with our front four without even thinking about draft if we wanted

for example would you care to sample from our list of defensive backs pl0x

I don't really have much I care to write, basically it's tell us who you think should be gone and upgraded, so in lieu of more text here's a Jake Delhomme comic I found on tumblr

Josh Norman can go play in traffic. I screamed he was garbage all last year and got hammered for it. Then I let the huddle convince me during the preseason that he was actually good. We are in big trouble anytime he suits up.

Norman has skills, but he's as undisciplined of a corner I can remember seeing for the Panthers.

Not starting him is one of the few things I've seen Rivera do that makes me think he has at least some clue of what it takes to be a HC.

    • I do think the rating is fair given how this unit hasn’t proven it with production. I understand you have to rank off production, not potential. However, our unit is also in a position to make this rating look foolish a year from now. We have 4 guys in the WR/TE room who all could legitimately take the next step this year, and catapult our rank. A guy under a lot of people’s radar after we took Tet, Jalen Coker. Mark my words, he will become the star of this room, and be the heir to Thielen.
    • Exactly. You’d think 2-7 wins a year (in a 17 game season no less) since 2017 is going to keep us bottom tier. Every year we say the same poo like we haven’t been a bad team the past 7 years. Until we prove we aren’t a bottom dweller, that’s where we’ll stay ranked. God forbid we have OL injuries like 2016.
    • What I love and hate about this team is it’s more filled with potential breakout players than ever before. JT, XL, Coker, Smith-Wade, Ikem, Trevin… and even Bryce are all guys I could legitimately see taking the next step. But the problem with having so many of those guys is that team success somewhat relies on them taking that step, and some are bound not to. That being said, I’m cautiously optimistic given our softer schedule, the way the offense clicked late last year, and the direction we finally have at GM, coach, and QB. Could see us as a sneaky playoff team.
