x-post from /r/Panthers....how we're all feeling about Rivera

Maybe he was given 10 years because his first 6 years were winning/playoff seasons...LOL...it's not that hard to understand.

Rivera is to this point on his way to 3 straight losing seasons....again compare apples to apples...you are way off at this point.

HINT: you'd need to find a coach who had 3 losing seasons then won a superbowl with the same team

We haven't had 3 losing seasons.... yet

So what...

Just pointing out that he was given 10 years, Lovie Smith was fired after a playoff apperance. Like I said, everybody has to win now or he is a bum and needs to be fired. Maybe if we could be more patient we might actually have a winning team, but with every loss the coach needs to be fired.

This isn't Madden and in reality sometimes things take time to get right.

Is Rivera right for this team? Only time will tell and the world doesn't have time anymore.

Cowher was 11-5 his first season, 9-7 his second, and 12-4 his third.  If Rivera was putting on that type of job performance, no one would be saying a word.

Really kind of an apples to oranges comparison...

Not really, but I see you want to bitch about this...

Chuck Noll first three seasons..12-30

Bill Walsh  first two season   8-24

Tom Landry first five seasons 25-53

I am not comparing Rivera to these coaches, but they were given time to win.

He wasn't "given" ten years though, Cowher was a winning coach from the beginning. No one was ever calling for his head because he was a good coach. Super Bowls aren't the only measure of coaching success

"He needs time to grow" was a fine excuse for losing in his rookie year.

I think he's more like a Leslie Frazier type.  Lose for two years, catch lightening in a bottle and win big his third, and then go back to being who we thought he was.

Hopefully, Gettleman is given permission to bring his own guy in after the season.  I would be surprised if that guy is Rivera, too.

Cowher had 6 winning seasons and made the playoffs 6 straight times in his first 6 seasons....

How you think that is a legit comparison is beyond belief.

You're right, they aren't.

Cowher inherited a 7-9 team that had a very talented roster and played in a terrible division.

Rivera took over one of the most pathetic teams in modern football with a depleted roster and tough division.

Now that we have legit comparisons you can edit your other post and hope that Rivera is a future HOFer

So did John Fox and to this point Rivera isn't even on John Fox level....how sad is that?
