What a strange NFL season this has been. It is the kind of season that just might allow for a previously 0-2 team to make the playoffs.

With a record of 1-2, the Panthers are second in their division and definitely still in the playoff hunt.

Here are the Panthers upcoming October games....

@ Cardinals (2-2)

@ Vikings (1-3)

Rams (1-3)

@ Bucs (0-4)

Every single one of these games should be a Panthers victory and put the Panthers at a 5-2 record heading into November. Heck, just winning the first two would give Ron Rivera his first taste of being over .500 in his head coaching career.

It seems the football gods have smiled favorably on the Panthers this season.

That said, Panthers fans are currently at a crossroads. While the home game against the Giants was a huge morale booster, there is still worry for a let down. We are accustomed to seeing this Panthers team play down to the level of the competition and not win the games that they should win.

It all starts Sunday against the Cardinals, which I am calling a must win. This Panthers team MUST go on the road and win if they want to convince the fan base they are for real this year. After all, Ron Rivera is 0-2 after a bye week. A loss is very possible.

We will lose vs the Cardinals. 

 

Dear Friend,

 

It is Monday morning coming off a bye week that was preceded by this Panther team destroying a NY Giant team led by a 2 time Superbowl winning QB.  This team can go on the road, and do to the Cardinals, the same thing they did to the Giants.  I fully expect for that to happen next Sunday.  I respect your opinion and have no problem with your glass being half empty but mine, on the other hand, is half full.  And by the time game time comes around on Sunday, I, and many other individuals on this board will have glasses that are 100% full.  Most will contain various forms of adult libations but they will be full all the same.

Question.

If we sweep the saints, but they have an overall better record than us, do we win the division or does the best record in the division wins? In other words, does overall record matter, or does the divisional record matter?

Based on the answer we could be practically 0-0

      Zavala was really bad his first year but I think he can still flash that unfortunately. Coaching? IDK. Inconvenience seems to be common.  Moton should just have played the year out to see what's what or they should have replaced him, whixh is a tall order for a team with so much else needing done. I just thought the reworked deal was dumb. Get cap but create another issue later. Just eat it and move on. I do think they were trying to create space for someone else but that's also a huge negative for me because the 'one player away mentality' has always been a failure that I can remember. Corbett was a known health issue, a waste of roster space really. BC has had a fractured ankle and a torn bicep so he isn't a huge shocker either, unlucky or injury prone at this point? Add in Moton and that unit was always suspect. Having both high priced OGs dealing with injuries 1 year removed from their big deals just seems like the chefs kiss to that entire build. So 2 known injury issues with starters, a backup that's probably injury prone now, Mays and then nobodies. I don't think I can call that decent depth, especially considering the 2 known starter issues coming into the year.

      Just imagine how great it will be when they eventually expand the playoff to 24 teams, or more. There will still only be 3 or 4 teams that have a real chance of winning the national championship, but the money-making opportunity will be too irresistible.

      Trading Hubbard should be a decision made based on the "future" of the team. If they deem Rico a wiser investment, long term, Hubbard is expendable. If they deem Hubbard the wiser investment, long term, Rico is expendable. That doesn't mean they should have a price that is less than acceptable, however.
