Beason traded?

That doesn't mean the 6.2 million cap hit disappears when we trade him. A lot of that is from the signing bonus and other bonuses that have already been paid to him. We take the cap hit for that whether he's here or traded. The only thing we are saving is the remainder of his base salary (13/16 of 1 million).

yeah, that's right. I've been drinking. I got all excited without thinking.

What better team to make a trade with

Gman is the real deal.  He smells blood in the water with his former team who is getting REAL heat in NYC.  He uses their obvious panic to unload a guy with a big name, but not much to back that up anymore, sadly.

He stuck it to them, not the other way around.

GMan is running this thing like a business and that is the way it should be done.  Everyone liked Beason for what he WAS, not so much for what he can contribute any longer.  Good luck to him.

By the way, the Giants are having trouble scoring, but, they are not far out of their division, due to it being the worst in football, so they will NOT be getting rid of playmakers, just trying to plug holes on defense.

Good move for Gman

Beason used to be a great player. But he's a washed up version of his old self. As little as Beason has played the past few years, and as poorly as he's played when he's been on the field, I view this trade as effectively getting an extra draft pick for almost nothing. Yeah, it's a late-round pick, but I'm confident Gettleman can find a fresh young talent to use that pick on.

from my understanding Beason restructured his contact earlier this season which means he was going to be an UFA next season and since we already absorbed his bonus we wont have any cap casualties with this trade.

am I wrong?

Spotrac has us at 104 million, And I am not sure if that is counting are rollover we still have now.

oh so you've been in the lockerroom! awesome! who would you say is and isn't a vocal locker room leader based on this insider information you've been keeping from us from so long?

Congrats on being an ass...

I hope it helps you sleep better at night knowing that you are the best e-bully there is...

And it's pretty common-knowledge of Beason being the vocal leader of the team...

All you have to do is google Jon Beason + Leader and you get all sorts of articles.

you are right.

so what we are looking at, even if it was a late round pick is...

1) he was going to be a free agent next year

2) he was no longer going to be a cap casualty

3) he hasn't really played for a couple years

4) he lost his Mike starting job to kuechly and then

5) he lost his Will job to Blackburn

6) didn't even play last week

7) the last time he was on the field for any amount of time he was a liability (not entirely his fault b/c he shouldn't have been in that situation to begin with)

so pretty much, we weren't getting much from him now. we haven't gotten really anything from him for a couple years. we likely weren't going to be getting a whole lot from him going forward this season. we weren't going to be getting anything from him after this year.

not sure what the problem would be.

he's not who he was two years ago. we aren't trading that guy away. we're trading away the guy who has been on the sidelines for the better part of the last two years and is still on the bench.

You weren't getting Nicks (if that's what you're alluding to) for Beason.

One is a functional player. The other is trying to prove he can still play in the league. The Giants did the deal, cause they're desperate for good LB play, and Beason was one of the best.

They desperately needed a Lb, they should be willing to give up something more than a low pick. This is Gman helping to save his former team. He could've trade Beason to anywhere and he had to chose NYG.

    • With Schoen and Dan Morgan being tight I’d figure we knew this was coming and since he is released, Dan didn’t bite.    But, a quick search says this is at least 80% cap related. They have No cap space and save 8 or 9 million with releasing him.  He has been a captain his entire time there. 145 tackles this year.  They are picking 5th with a new staff and looking at Styles. Hitting that age 30 season and had a disc issue last year (meaning 2024) that did not require surgery.  I haven’t really watched him play but he activated the antennae.
    • OK, we are letting our top RB go.  We have Chuba, Etienne, and Brooks.  Imagine a player who could LEGITIMATELY play the slot and back up at RB?  I am sure he'd be a special team player as well.  I noticed him at the combine, and thought, "Here is a late rounder who could stand out as a slot and provide depth at RB. Without further ado....(I know one Huddler who might be able to tell us more about this guy): Navy running back/wide receiver Eli Heidenreich headlined the 2026 NFL Combine for the Midshipmen, running an official 4.44-second 40-yard dash and recording 16 reps on the bench press. Recognized as a versatile, "Swiss army knife" offensive weapon, Heidenreich solidified his draft stock as a potential day three target.    Eli Heidenreich (RB/WR - Navy) 2026 Combine Performance: 6'0" 200 lbs.   40-Yard Dash: 4.44 seconds. 10-Yard Split: 1.55 seconds. Vertical Jump: 35.5 inches. Broad Jump: 10' 0". Bench Press: 16 Reps. Highlights: Showcased as a premier receiving threat from the backfield, having left Navy as the program's all-time leader in receiving yards (1,994). High character.  Smart.  Maybe, just maybe....
