Browns asking for 2nd round pick for Gordon

No, he has.  He one blown test from a 1 year suspension which is what makes him available and dangerous to trade for.

He's talented, but I don't know that our lovable little dumpster fire is the best place for him to straighten things out.

What an apt metaphor for our team culture this year!

How has Gordon proven to be a #1 WR again?

50 catches, 800 yds, and 5 TDs is the new #1 WR standard?

as a rookie? yes

for the browns? even more so.

take a gander at julio jones' rookie stats with MATT RYAN (who is > weeden, if you were wondering)

i'm not saying we should do it, but don't discredit gordon. he's a stud.

unfortunately i don't think our franchise is in a place where we can facilitate this type of thing.

-we lack the coaching and overall organizational discipline (see: pats) for a player like gordon

-we need the draft picks, especially considering ours will most likely be an early 2nd

Yeah, that's it.  Thanks!

So is my memory failing me again in that he served an NFL suspension?

Yeah, Britt was suspended for off-field issues in 2012, as well as fined a time or two before I believe.

Some people may want to put Gordon and Britt in the same basket, but Gordon just seems more serious about his career in my opinion. Of course he came to the NFL when he did because he apparently didn't wanna stop smoking pot in college. As far as this year's two-game suspension, he drank cough syrup with some codeine while trying to recover from strep throat. Seems like a humble kid trying not to mess his career up though, but (of course) giving up a second is still a somewhat risky proposition.

Seeing what I've seen of this kid though, I'd do it.

When the league didnt give a poo. Now stupid actions hurt the team.

Pretty much this. Different times.  After the first two times Irvin got tackled and sprayed cocaine all over the field like some fuged up pinata/squid he'd be banned.

    • i think the difference is that we win when we minimize Bryce as part of the offense ala Trent dilfer. look at the games we win and he us always under 200 yards passing.
    • Which is also why we talk about there being a lower ceiling for Bryce I think Bryce sees the game decently well already given the mess this offence has been for the better part of his career. His big WTF plays are typically him just dropping the damn ball Which leaves me wondering sometimes what does peak Bryce look like. Guys like Sam you’d watch in NY/Carolina and he’d have so many boneheaded plays that you were left thinking if he could just clean these up you’d have a solid QB. And now we’re finally seeing Sam in a good offence and he’s able to play with timing and within structure and those boneheaded plays are cut down to 2-3 times a game Bryce doesn’t have a ton of boneheaded plays (minus flat out dropping the ball) so I dunno. I think Bryce can be a solid QB. Put Bryce in Seattle or Tampa and they’re still winning a lot of games  Coaching and overall team matters so much. The only dude that I think could probably do the most with the least in this league would be Lamar
    • They both struggle with that but Lawrence is a significantly better athlete and an INSANELY more physically gifted passer. He has very limited reasons to be struggling the way he has. I will say, when he came into the league I specifically remember an interview that he basically intimated that he would be okay if his life didn't involve football and I have always questioned if he was passionate enough to be elite from that moment onward.
