NumberFire: Take Panthers Seriously. Very Seriously.

According to numberFire's data, even when adjusted for their seemingly lackluster schedule so far, the Panthers are one of the best teams in the NFL. That means they can go toe-to-toe with the Saints, Patriots and 49ers and expect to compete and win.

And after watching this team multiple times this season, all of these numbers make perfect sense. Cam Newton is running a smart, efficient offense. The defense is swarming and opportunistic. The coaching staff is putting its players in the right positions to succeed.

So the suggestion I have for you is to not sleep on the Panthers. They're more than legitimate contenders for the NFC South title this season.

According to them we have the league's most balanced and efficient offense, and a balanced, elite defense.

I think the buzzword for the Panthers this season is "balance."

Well , we've been balanced before but I dont now if we've been this determined in recent memory. . signs pointed to it in the 2nd half last season. The aints game was an eye opener for me last season. Thats some heart right there, thats the kind of poo champs are made of. . . gotta focus and stay determined now.

That 30 second clip of Chico after the game shocked the poo out of me. . .THATS how a leader of men sounds.

The Aikman stats are further proof of our balance. So not only are we running a balanced run/pass offense but our O and D and ranked very similarly according to Aikman. Not to mention Gano and the special teams. They had some early blips with the short coverage but they've been very dependable too.

In addition to the above, Cold Hard Football Facts also likes what they see statistically and have called the Panthers "a solid Super Bowl dark horse, a team nobody has taken seriously but that can win it all, take a look at the Carolina Panthers."

    • It appears that he sees things differently than the QB and OC, so Cam's advice is spot on. It isn't about number of targets, it's about quality of targets. Trust and being on the same page. BY doesn't know how to anticipate what XL is doing. And XL doesn't like where BY is placing passes. One on one film study would go a long way. More for BY than XL though. He has to adjust to XL. I really don't think XL can adjust on the fly.
    • If the team shows improvement, then he shouldn't be in danger of losing his job - even if the record doesn't reflect. This was a very young team (with a lot of new vet starters) that overperformed last season. Somebody's doing something right. Consistency is key with so much youth. And we're potentially looking at new starters at ILB and FS. Those are positions that take time to fully understand the defense. ILB calls the front 7. Safety calls the back 4. Injuries at WR and IOL killed the offense last season. Depth needs to be upgraded. Same with Edge. I think they would have won more games if Pat Jones doesn't go down early. Be smart with the roster and draft. Trade players for assets when it's time to pay them more than they're worth - yes, that includes BY if he doesn't make a pretty big jump. That's one of the many reasons Tillis is as important as anyone to the future of this team.
    • He had heart surgery a while back he looks Fraile I hope he is okay
