Myths about Panthers players and coaches that were busted on Sunday.

There were a number of myths about our team and coaches that were dispelled in this game.

Obviously the whole Rivera can't coach the team to a win in a close game is gone and that Shula can't call plays including gadget and trick plays is no longer germaine.  But there were a number of other myths were busted.

Cam led the team to a 4th quarter score to come from behind and  propel the team to a victory which supposedly he couldn't do.

The defense held a lead late and dominated much like our teams of 2005 and 1996.

Cam threw a pick and was not very good throughout and we still won.

Williams is over the hill and can't still deliver the big run and we don't need him.

Smith can't be a factor as a number 1 receiver (even when he drops a few).

And how bout the coaches can't make halftime adjustments and in-game adjustments.  What a turnaround from the first to the second half on defense and offense.  If the receivers had caught the ball better, it wouldn't have been close. Still this was the most dominating I have seen this defense since the Tampa game in 2008.

Other myths??

cam said after the game that the carolina panthers "needed to win a game like this."

that's because historically we've lost in almost every one of those descriptive categories in football games. this time we overcame all of them at once, on the road, in spite of awful-ass refereeing, and walked out with a win.

i'd say that corner has been turned for a while now and we're seeing the results of it.

Shula called a very up and down game and we scored 10 points....should not be singing his praises too much....

And yes I know how 'good' the 9ers defense is but I personally think they are very overrated....the Colts and Hawks plastered them for example.

Are we really content with only putting up points vs terrible defenses?

when we have an oline like the colts and hawks then we can expect to score more than 10 points on one of the leagues best defenses

You clearly don't watch much football other than the Panthers.

Specifically go back and watch the Rams v the Seahawks game....then get back to me on the Oline issues.

Actually you can remember our own game against them where Wilson was running around like a chicken with his head cut off.

    • Well, the whole rationale used  for the high IQ point guard is it would allow us to spend our resources elsewhere….instead it’s all our first rounders ever since to support the bad pick.  Reality is our front office is just bad.  If you wanted Bryce Young you were going to need to do something unique and special for him.  Instead we just insert a QB with traditional tools into old NFL concepts that pair with traditional talent and our pass game is whack
    • Good to see some other folks are speaking the same language on this. It's simple common sense. But it seems like there's a disconnect due to the misplaced value the team has put on Thielen because he was the only vaguely good veteran WR willing to sign with the Panthers after we traded away DJ Moore. That time has come and gone. We have two first round WR's on the roster now.
    • Yeah I’m turning this into a Bryce can’t play QB thread. Just stating that offense was a poo show two years ago. No QB is succeeding in that, much less a rookie. I feel like it’s become a common debate strategy on here to just jump down the rabbit hole of saying he is just bad in so many ways when any certain point gets countered. If that doesn’t work we can deflect to how poorly this team has been ran. In regards to the actual point we are debating, the OL was struggling, half of the skill players aren’t on a roster, Mingo has done nothing with his new team and the staff are either not coaching or on their 3rd team in 3 years, aside from McCown (I liked McCown too). Honestly about as bad as it gets. No need to try to state how good of an offense it was billed it because that has been proven false at this point.
