Scumbag Jeff Fisher says flag shouldn't have been picked up

Count Rams coach Jeff Fisher among the many who believe the Patriots got a raw deal on the last play of Monday night’s loss to the Panthers.

Fisher, a longtime member of the NFL’s competition committee who has a firm understanding of the rule book, says back judge Terrence Miles made the right call when he threw a flag on the Panthers for pass interference. Unfortunately, after the officiating crew talked it over, the wrong call was made, and the flag was picked up.

“I personally feel like the flag went down for a reason, and it looked like a foul to me,” Fisher said at his Tuesday news conference, via Mike Reiss of ESPNBoston.com. “So, that’s my opinion. Because I was not on the sideline, obviously, I can voice my opinion [without getting fined].”

Fisher isn’t a completely neutral observer: He’s still hoping his team can get back into the NFC wild card race, and the Panthers are the leaders in the NFC wild card race. So it’s safe to say he was rooting for the Patriots. But Fisher’s comments are one more demonstration that a whole lot of people who know the rules of the NFL very well are saying that the officials got this one wrong.

The issue here is these people are making this call with the aid of instant replay and slow motion. Something the Refs in game do not have access to for calls like this and these calls cannot be challenged by either team nor the booth. So its easy to say they made the wrong call with this aids at their side.

I think it's funny that the article mentions that someone who knows the rules really well has this opinion when it is clear to me once I read the rules that the officials made the correct call.  Honestly I'm not sure how well any given coach knows the NFL rulebook as far as technicalities like this.

    • damn I wish somebody would sign him. This has been going on for weeks.    I think if the team wanted to sign him we probably would have heard something about interest on our part.    Or any TE. It looks like they have set that room. And we have taken guys two years running, a guy like this would be blocking them. We need to see if they have it or not. And we should see if Tremble is gonna ever do anything.      In general, with the TEs
    • Dude, there aren’t rose colored glasses big enough for you to call this “not a bad draft.” BC was not a good pick. He was taken with the 6th pick in round 3 and he’s been a backup OL. Tremble also wasn’t a win. Another 3rd rounder who’s easily replaced. Only reason either of them started games is because of injuries or a lack of a better starter. Chuba’s got heart but he’s had one solid year behind a solid run blocking unit. Other than that he’s underwhelmed and like we saw with Dowdle and Foreman, it’s not hard to find cheap pickups who perform as well. Horn has been a good starter but honestly that draft had so many solid starters we could have taken. With as many picks as we had, him and Chuba is absolutely a bad draft. We needed OL and BC and Brown was a terrible effort. You clearly didn’t watch the Senior Bowl if you thought Brown had a chance in the NFL. The huddle draft folks wanted Humphrey and Smith and instead we got crap and Mahomes was the winner.
