Hmmmmm... I lived in Asheville for 3 years and never missed a game and always drove in the morning. It's only a 2-hour drive down the mountain to Hickory, take 321 down to Gastonia and across to Charlotte on 85.

That being said, a new job trumps everything. It's one thing to call out and tell 'em you're going to the game after you've earned some tenure and respect, it creates a pretty crappy impression to do it after a very short time on the job.

Your reliability and integrity are at stake, bro. Your family will always be there- your job may not, and that's what pays the bills and allows you the financial freedom to go to the games.

Yeah if you call in because you need your 8 hours before driving tomorrow morning you should be fired. This is not even close to a schedule conflict.

I can operate without 8 hours, but just not more then one day in a row.  I haven't seen my folks in Charlotte for about a year, so ideally I would like to get up there tonight so I can actually hang out with them, because during the game that's what I'm going to be focused on.   The only reason I'd call out is because I wasn't scheduled, there is a full staff and they're not short handed without me.  I volunteered to come in today to speed up assimilation.  If they were short handed, I wouldn't be going to the game.....period.  I take pride in my work ethic.

    • Assuming Mann is back I’d go ahead and move Green and the first rounder from PHX for a starting center. I prefer Okogie to Green anyway.
    • Been here since the Coliseum days. Hornets were the first pro team I ever rooted for. If they're ever going to get out of the gutter they have to establish a culture. They are trying to do that. I have no idea if it will be successful but it's a start.
    • I don’t think I'd go that far but there is definitely legitimate reason to ask how much he actually values winning and being great as a basketball player. He is very easily distracted with off the court stuff. This has been a public criticism of people like LeBron James with some of the newer generations of "stars". And it is 1000% valid and needed to be said. All I can say is I hope this is the year. If it is it will be apparent fairly early on. But I get the sense if the same themes continue as the upcoming season progresses the FO could look to move him before the trade deadline. It would suck for a multitude of reasons and I don't want to see it happen but if it did it would be on LaMelo and LaMelo alone because they've given him the keys and are finally putting pieces around him. If he wants to be a great basketball player and win he will be here and do what is necessary for the team to be successful. If not well....
