Will these last three games make Newton a bunch of money?

Random thought. There's been a lot of Cam doubters the past couple years due to The Panthers not winning. I (and others) have basically given him a free pass believing he didn't have the talent around him to win. Obviously the team has shown over the past month that they can win. I think these last three games is Cam's opportunity to show that he can be the leader and franchise QB the team needs to get to that next level. Can he rally the troops and close out the season strong? I believe he can and will. However, my question is this... If the team drops some bad games, loses winnable games, or doesn't put them in a position to be successful in the playoffs, does this impact Cam's next contract? Is the blame placed on him? Or is Cam already set as our future QB regardless of the end to this season. Here's to a 3-0 finish and a playoff run, but just wanted to get some thoughts.

Cam simply has not earned a gigantic contract.  If he can get us playoff win, or at least look good while taking us to the brink of a Super Bowl, then maybe G-man (and J-Rich) make it rain. Certainly, if he wins it. Otherwise, he has earned a  middling to good contract, that equates to 10-15 mil per year, depending on the market value. He did have some fairly impressive years, but is too inconsistent to break the bank on in my opinion. A good (or bad) showing in the next three games probably won't be overly weighed either way.

Let me say that I am no fan of crippling a franchise for one player.  Dumb teams do that, shitty organizations do that, and GM's with short careers do that.

Now with Cam, there is no choice but to make an offer that you feel is low and then let them do the dance and gradually bring up the number till both parties feel that they won.

This can not be a Hurney contract where you throw 120 at him and grin like a jackass eating briars.  We know we need him, he knows we need him and there is going to be a hefty price to pay for that mutual acknowledgement.

Sadly, it's not about how much a player is worth, it's about his potential and how much other teams will throw his way on the free market.  All I know is a team there are quite a few teams, Texans, Minnesota, Raiders, Jets especially who would  break the bank for Cam, which is what we're up against, and what we'll have to pay for.

FYI, Luck is playing as well as Cam played last season. His team made it into the play-offs on 8-5 record and a game he lost, says how weak that AFC Division seriously is, yet last season the media was all but ready to bench Cam for the Panthers 7-9 record and he was in some supposed Sophmore Slum. RG III season is over on every level, and like Luck, doesn't have the Sophmore Slum label on him. Yet, Cam has taken this very disfunctional team on his back and played his heart out, but some of you still sit there with this BS of what Cam needs to do to be seen as a label that is already handed to Luck and RG despite their playing abilities.

I ask the question again, why does Cam have to keep proving his worth while selfish and ego driven people keep determining what they believe will make him obtain these false labels, like Franchise QB and Elite?

    • You have gave the board some recent gold via posting. Heres my poor attempt at the truthful play-by-play of the time during post- I pulled out the old laptop to do my shitposting and check on websites. Open the huddle and see this new thread. Open thread and read CRAs post, {inner thinking, oooOOooo this is my lane and I got this}. Make sure not to scroll even to the 2nd post. 23% of current neurons still firing start up and two names appear- Captain and Josh....... about another 43 seconds past "O GOD" it's July 4th weekend and I got medicine to pick up. (If the laptop didn't give away my aging, the meds should...) I need to split, think long panther careers and the hint-  Ryan Kalil was a late 2nd and Pro bowls(even all-pros too) he's got to be OLman and Mikie Minter is among the all-time Panthers career leaders. Drop my post. Scramble to get keys, wallet, and phone. Check my phone- its 17% battery.....fug I now have to raw dog the pickup line and put the phone on charge.... Flip flops, sweat ringed filled hat, and shades acquired. Get in my pos rav4 and think about not running the A/C. Pull out the drive way and reach the 1st stop light, A/C is wide open. I check my shirt to see if there's any new stains on my house shirt, bush off the Bojangles salt that I see.... Neurons re-fire and focus on the comments CRA made that no one would get this....... Dang IT, that means it isn't Ryan Kalil or Mike Minter! CVS is close, but I know its impossible I get back withing 10 minutes to change my post and my phone is on the charger. {Think you monkey, at one point you were a draft nerd}. Reach the CVS line, by some grace its not 5 cars deep during 5 o'clock traffic hell. Im second in line after the car in front of me both turn in, they have to go back and forth to line up while Im a pro for that geometry. Neurons finally reach peak performance as Ive re-thought draft classes. Think obscure and unknown 7th rounders with long careers. Some Sunday/Monday night member berry fell out of my Melon, Will montgomery during the players intros for washington. I thought he out of the league and was shocked to see him still playing around the 2015 years. I do a goggle background check and that refreshed memory. Pick up the meds and enjoy the sweet smelling cool CVS air. Driving back and check in on one of the local bums at the big stop light, wow he's got a new fancy rug. Think about all the old food I got and need to start giving it away and rethink it. Reach home and post a follow up and I know Minter is wrong too, I check the draft history and see Robert Mcclain. Too late, but that would have been my guess....open CRAs link and get "upset" at the DBs name.
    • THANKS my guy! Keeping up with this threads theme, if I view a thread and there's only 20 posts and some time passes. If I see there's one new post and read the name; @Dave Gettleman's Shortsis among the chosen few that I will reopen that thread just to see what you posted.    Thanks again, plus not just a scout, thats scotty mccloughans son?!?!? If not for the deep claws of booze, scotty is among the best talent finders this league has recently had. Last I heard he ran a consulting business. Caden could be one of those who's on a early path to being a GM in the future. I was a big fan of his dad, dam shame about booze demon ruining his career.
