Watching Beason and Co vs the Lions

Yes, we did. Like Kurb and various other logical Panther fans reiterated, Beason had zero trade value. Period. New York was desperate enough and took a shot in the dark. Fortunately for The Giants, it worked out.

He's a Mike Linebacker. Not a Strong or Weakside Linebacker. His destiny was riding the bench for the rest of the year, and neither side wanted to see that happen. In a perfect world, he'd still be on this team happily serving his tenure as a back up and mentor to Luke.

A 7th rounder for a former top 3 LB who is still under 30 isn't a shot in the dark, it's easy money. At worst its lost change...

If they were so desperate we should have turned down that 7th and had him back Luke up for the rest of the season or have them offer more. Then either cut him or get that 7th anyway after the season.

There is a long list of injured stars who come back and play well and our own TD should remind people that want to devalue Beason b/c of his injury(s).

Injuries?

I like Beason a lot but 2 years of injuries and ineffectiveness meant he had no value when traded. What he did in his early years has no effect on that. Throw in the fact that we have Luke and he was gone at the end of the year anyway for nothing.

Exactly.

Previous to arriving in NY Beason had a total of 19 tackles in 2 years in the NFL with the Panthers.

Clearly Luke is a better player today than 52 and I believe Gettlemen felt 52 may have been a problem in the locker room as the once proud warrior wanted to start. I like today's Panther locker room, everyone is pulling on the rope in the same direction.

He's done OK in NY with 1 INT this year and 1 PD with ~ 60 tackles.

But I saw Luke and TD dominate out there today and I'm good with Beason being a Giant.

Hope he continues to do well, but he's in the rear view.

People complaining here are likely the same ones that got mad at mom when she gave away their Star Wars Millennium Falcon Special Collector's Edition to Goodwill after it sat in the back of the closet broken down and neglected for the better part of a decade.

"But Mom, it was worth a fortune!"

Mom:  "Hush dear and eat your peas."

Couldn't have said it better.

19 tackles in 2 years .

Lots of injuries

Basically last year of deal

On the bench.

What says 3rd round draft pick?  It's crazy if you take off the homer glasses.  If he had 3 years left on his deal with a reasonable cap number then maybe you have a leg to stand on.

The people who say we could have gotten more for Beason especially when everyone and their mother knew he was going to be cut at the end of the season anyway are the same people who keep comic books for 20 years and are shocked when they aren't worth anything.  Probably have the classic car on bricks in the front yard with no engine slowly rusting talking about the million dollars they want for it.  Frickin hoarder mentality.

For the lasts time when he was traded beason had no value"

Just give it up Kurb, imbeciles with no concept of market-based trade values will continue to be imbeciles with no concept of market-based trade value.

Yes, Beason is better than a 7th rounder.

No one was offering more than 7th rounder.

He's worth less than 7th rounder when he's on the bench or playing OLB poorly since it is not his natural position.

So we took a 7th rounder.

For God's sake, what is so difficult for people to understand about this?

    • Not in same league. Caldwell just hit a 10.00 on the RAS. 2nd out of 3830 from 1987 onward.  https://x.com/MathBomb/status/2027885023387349047 Yeah I mean Louis had a sub 9.00 RAS. Still very very good, no doubt. Louis is small, no 2 ways about it. He is likely a sub package lb in nickel packages or specialized WLB. Be fine ST gunner to start for sure. 6 foot flat and 220lb is pushing it for a starting LB. At 10 to 20lbs less than the other LBs he'd better be closer to the top in most timed drills. He's gonna be challenged when some of the wrs in the class can matchup bigger stronger faster, much less TE in the run game.  Yeah instinct matter and he has them, but that size is a massive red flag compared to many of the other LBS in this class.    Rodriguez is the LB that really climbed this week from a pure grit guy to great flash with athleticism people wrote off cause he was a QB at first at UVA. 18.4mph in the backpedal. Production the last 2 years were great. I'd be thrilled with him as the future mike.   Hill likely moved out of 51 and into the top 45 picks ( Ravens at 45 I can't imagine don't bite if he makes it there). Honestly Hill imo is a 1st rounder and I'd be ok with him as he fits the MLB we have missed the last few years. People would crow it's a reach but he's top 30 all-time I'm RAS for a LB at 9.9+ . Plus he was big time in big games when he was healthy. And that br a big check: meds.
    • Miller, Melo, Coby, Moose, and Bridges all on the floor at the same time must be a nightmare for defenses lol. Switch one out for Kon and still a nightmare. Coby really does bring a true 6th man value and looks like he could start if Melo was out after only a few games of getting his feet wet.
