The play calls at the end of the game were NOT playoff caliber

top dawg

Gotta love fans that believe they can call a better game than the coaches. Armchair QBs are the cutest things.

Get Cam under control and the Offense will pick up. How many passes did he miss again today? 4 that I can think of off the top of my head. 2 of them would have been big gainers.

But by all means. Email Shula with your play suggestions. I am quite sure he will take them to heart.

Lol how unironic

A thread created for some discussion on playcalling analysis, and just like any other critical thinking thread after a win the same coalition of forest-for-the-trees cretins are fusing into some giant megazord threadshitting their pre-programmed censurings at literally any living creature that could've had a problem with the playcalling in today's game

"SUm pPl Ar NEVaR HAPpy I SwEar!!!"

I didnt read the whole thread, but we're playoff bound with the number 2 seed.  We've already beaten plenty of playoff bound teams with our questionable playcalling, namely SF, NE, and NO (we also should have beaten SEA and have #1 seed).

Look at it from this perspective, why do anything different than what's worked most of the year?  If you show any wrinkles at this point in the year, then you're basically telling the team we face in the playoffs what to expect if we start struggling.  Save the good stuff for the playoffs and win the Lambardi.

I am usually more of a pessimist type concerning my teams in football but to get the Panthers into the playoffs with a first round bye with the offensive talent that we have now is one of the most unbelievably greatest coaching jobs I have ever witnessed in my many many years.   With Smith out....a patchwork offensive line....a receiving corps that struck fear into no one.....and Cam throwing 5 yards over everyone's head for the first 20 minutes of play we still WON.  Incredible job.   This isn't video game football.  Go back to your couches with your play stations and x boxes if you don't enjoy it.

All I'll say is  IF Seattle is the the best the NFC has then i feel pretty good. I watched the first half of the Sea.- St.L game, and if the Rams had half a QB they would have probably won. BTW the falcons (as much as I hate them ) are a better team than their record....they took the 9ers to the wire last week.. Lighten up....we've got two weeks to rest, get 89 healed up and look at our mistakes on film....enjoy it!

They won the game because the Falcons nutted up. It's not too much to ask for your squad to get a fuging first down to put the game on ice.

Chicken poo play calling will only take you so far.

Is that also why we are 12-4 and have won 10 out of the last 11 games.

Holy poo the collective ignorance in this thread is amazing.

We make the Atlanta fans from the Vick era look like a fuging think tank.

At the moment, I would give our offense about a 4 out of 10.  Not what you want heading into the playoffs.

Not that others don't see it, but they pick their favorite player (Cam) and level blame at the rest of the offense and coaching.

There is enough blame to go around for sure.  If a coach calls a play and it does not work, is it poor execution or a poor call?  Could be either or both.

We do not block well, throw well, get open well, secure the ball well, and yet Shula is our main issue?  Grow up and admit that there are a few bright spots occasionally from our offense, but lack of execution and its effects are not on one person but the entire unit has definite room to improve.

    • I feel like this trade just lives rent free in people's heads and keeps morphing into different things. First thing is that the rumored trade was for future firsts. They wouldn't have any extra picks in 2023; the firsts would have been for 2024 and 2025. With very few exceptions, NFL GMs don't value picks that far away. You have to have a lot of job security to pull that off. Like Chiefs, Eagles, Rams kinda stability. That's obviously not the case with David Tepper, especially since he'd just fired his head coach. No GM except for like Howie Roseman is going to trade an asset you have now for a future asset you probably get to use.  Second, at the time you'd have to assume these are first rounders late in the first round. Obviously currency is currency and the panthers need young players, but these weren't slam dunk top ten picks. At the end of the day there's one pick that separates a first and second round pick.  Lastly, the only place that ever reported this trade was the Rams. All the reporters just repeated what McVay said and it became gospel. We have no idea how serious the negotiations were, if they ever really happened, if the offer was real, etc. And I personally believe McVay and Sneed are the kind of guys who would make up rumors like that to fug up other teams, mostly because I assume if I've thought of it someone smarter than me has.  I don't know how you'd call it the greatest draft haul of all time. Firsts quickly lose their value the farther out they are and Burns had 16.5 sacks last season. And anyway those picks would probably just been tossed into the burning inferno of the Bryce trade up so it's a moot point anyway.
