Huddle History

True Stats of Huddle History:

I was registered user 812 back in 2004.

Most nights back then there were only 3 registered users online after 2am.

In 2007 a French jagoff hacked the website, took it over for awhile, causing Zod to lose a nights sleep and subsequently ban everyone from France from new membership...a ban that lasts to this day.

In 2006 Sports Illustrated named The Huddle the #1 Panthers fan website.

Zod printed up a few thousand business cards and we used to hand them out to people on the streets in 2004 and in the stadium to get the name out and build up business.

At the end of the day, this website was simply a small business endeavor that panned out.

Zod has been basically a small independent man starting up a website that got me into OTA's and 6 weeks of training camp being able to get the same interviews as other major media sites.

Within 3 years of starting the website, I interviewed players and asked them if they had heard of the huddle and most said they were familiar with it.

At one point that media relationship cracked and I got thrown out of a Panthers practice.  The Panthers were very nice and professional about how I got kicked out as well.

Several marriages have happened as a result of this website, and yes, hot chicks do post on message boards.

Many guys have scored with women on this website.

This website gets more website traffic than any other single radio or tv station's website in this market.

Every single year this website keeps growing.  This website has constantly had to upgrade capacity.

Jerry Richardson once called Zod asking exactly where the Huddle Tailgate was so he could come out and sign autographs.

Huddle members have given over $20,000 and hundreds of bikes to Panthers toys for tots drive.

Saints fan has shipped hundreds of dollars of fresh seafood to Huddle tailgate before.

At the end of the day, most posters on here are good people and many people here have either been entertained, met good friends, or had good times on this website.  Now there are radio ads, TV ads, etc for the site and it was all started just by a small business minded guy who really started it all just as a way to keep up with people from his house.

maybe some others can add things to this history that they can remember.

The Lounge used to be absolutely crazy with activity as early as a few years ago. Maybe I just don't come in as much, but it doesn't seem that it's as active.

There were several dark moments and terrible users/threads. The massive crash.

There was also the reaction to Pickles that lead to the largest schism between users I've ever seen (perhaps rivaled by the split of opinion on Cam pre-draft).

The TB has a history as well. Rebel Yell (lol).

The huddle made many awesome tailgates happen. I joined up here around 04, after the panthers.com forum went bye bye. I've tried to quit this bitch many times (salty and kurb have nuked my account by request) but I always come crawling back, begging for forgiveness.

    • well i could go on & on but i will just highlight it by saying big difference trust me from the SEC & NFL.it's honestly like comparing apples & oranges especially when you are talking about a  LT. in the NFL you are going up against the most athletic freaks of nature the world has to offer . .the NFL also has much more exotic & complicated defensive schemes than what they are used to seeing at Georgis &  finally but most importantly you have to learn how to master complex bio mechanics where the body kick steps instantly as a reaction to these world class athletes rush without really making a conscious effort it's more of a learned muscle memory  & it can take thousands upon thousands of reps to master rproper technique for a LT in the NFL especially if you are still very raw like Monroe Freeling is    ...just saying
    • All that being the case or maybe being the case, we do not know Wharton’s timetable n the first place. They are being coy about it. Or maybe not. They say week to week the board says he is terminal lol and must be replaced. Who knows? It may or may not warrant a fairly drastic solution.  Walker is a bargain and we are not well stocked at OL despite recent investments. Freeling has yet to have a single padded practice. Too much speculation driving this plan IMO.
    • I would really love to know who’s actually making these moves because it’s weirdly vague who’s doing the hiring and firing.
