Time to unleash the New Ton

If you're going to be a total jack ass be my guest. Our offense has to be better. There's nothing wrong in discussing ways they can do that. We've got Olsen, Smith who may not be 100%, up and down LaFell, and Ted Ginn. We have a running game that's success is dictated by the talent of our RB's, Cam and the strength of our opponent. Our line does not block well.

Sorry I don't feel safe with us winning by 1 point or having to resort to game winning drives. I want us to dominate and prove we can score at will. The defense has been carrying this team. If we happen to go to the Superbowl and win in the same close game manner. Fine I'll eat my crow but I doubt that's how Cam and the rest of the offense want it to go down.

You can go back and read your post. You typed that you wanted 2 rookies to get playing time doing what our starters have been doing all season long. How is that better? That is the idiocy. Not discussing the plays or starting players or ways that might actually happen.

Sorry for you if you don't feel safe. Seriously. It's football, there's no "safe" about it. It's not peewee. If domination and not trust and understanding is the only way you feel safe, then you're following the wrong sport.  And how you can presume to know what our offense thinks is beyond me. I don't.

If we were to win the Lombardi by 1 point, would you give it back? Sounds as if you would want to.

Rivera openly accepted that we're underdogs, so as long as they're not getting blown out he'll be happy. Expect the play call to be very conservative. I think they'll try to keep the game close so hopefully they get the last possession. It's gonna be interesting.

why would they try to keep the game close?

Sometimes I wonder if ya guys even listen to the insane things y'all say.

The offense will do everything it can to put drives together that end with putting points on the board.

With the 49er defense, I'm pretty sure we won't have to try for it to be a close game.

I swear, with some of the things y'all say, ya think it it would be easy to score on the 49ers if we would just be.more reckless with ball.

This a conservative coaching staff with below average skill players headed by a one man wrecking crew(Cam). Rivera will use field position to his advantage. You'll see a lot of 10 play drives ending in punts. It's the 9ers' job to open the game since they're the favorites with all the weapons. If they keep it close then two can play that game. Cam is more reliable in the last 8 minutes of the game than Kaep as you witness throughout the season. We'll take a 10-13 game in the fourth quarter. This is chess, not PS4.

This is exactly what I was trying to say in my thread. FG's is why game turns out the way you just described. There's no reason we shouldn't have blown open a few games early on, cause it's extremely difficult to overcome big deficits against our D. If you get that far down the field, no way things should continually fall apart and you have to take 3. That all start with Cam

this team does have weapons. I love how our own fans downplay our talent due to perception.

In case you don't remember, we've blown teams out with the same talent, and play calling.

Nothing wrong wjth time consuming drives. I prefer them. Don't know why ya would want to score quickly just to hand the ball back to the opposing offense, and not let our defense rest.

Our offense can score quickly when it needs to. It has proven this many times.

But yiur right. We have no tale nt. It's all cam.

Hahahahabaj

Of course I wouldn't give it back. But my point is that we are still trying to run bogus wild cat plays that don't anything but waste downs. We still throw a smoke screen to Smitty every game and we still waste first downs with draw plays to Williams that don't get any yards. I get that some of that is by design. Yeah I don't think it would hurt to see Barner get a carry or two or to have Williams make a big play. We were you not at least a little excited to see McNutt get a shot in the endzone?

Get ready to flame me.

If we can get back to scoring tds in the redzone this game may not be as close as some think.

I strongly believe McNutt will be used on a few (if not more) snaps. That's why we brought him out against Atlanta.

Cam does seem to have trouble with the 3-4 so I expect our passing game to go more vertical than we're used to.

I don't expect Crabtree to have a big game. I'm hoping he gets the Santonio Holmes treatment.

I for one have been saying all season long we need more hurry up offense in the games.

The 2 min drill stuff seems to be on point 90% of the time.

I wouldn't mind seeing it peppered in to the game somewhere outside the 2 min at the end of each half.

Other than that tho, I'd not mess to much with what got them here.

To be honest i'm all for lafell not starting the game........hixon and ginn could get it done with smith back in the line up sub in lafell and mcnutt if they feel the dude can play. we as a team have to capatilize on opportunities, put the dagger in teams and not let them hang around

Mcnutt was only activated cos of smitty being out and Williams only got on the field Bcos hartsocks injury! Smh' do some of you actually read papers or watch the game? There is no way anyone but the the players who been outthere all season will be relevant, Jstew will be back also so three guys will carry the run game and it will be smitty lafell Olsen and ginn hixon in on some plays but we will be heavily running the ball you can bet your life on that! I actually gona predict cam throws for 180 yards max and we rush for 150

Marvin McNutt will probably see little, if any, playing time against the Forty Niners but he would certainly do better than LaFell who last had a no catch game. LaFell couldn't catch a cold in sub zero degree weather.

McNutt has 5 no catch games. To say that a guy who has never done anything is certainly better than another is odd.

Damn, somebody woke up on the wrong side of the bed. What the hell is wrong with some people hoping new blood perks up our anemic receiving core?

Will it happen? Probably not, but there is nothing wrong with playing around with hypotheticals. This is, after all, a message board.

    • This is a good story--I LOVED his dad as a person and player--I talked to him at an OTA (he was back for his second stint) and he was talking about Moore (the WR from Wake Forest) being so young.  I was with my teenage son and told him, "This is Taylor.  He and I attended the OTAs when you were in Rock Hill as a rookie."  He jokes, "Was he in diapers then?" and laughed.  I imagine Moose III was in diapers when we chatted that day.  So I really would love for this to work out.  However, his stats do not suggest he was anything special in college.
    • I guess there are signs. The combination of the turf toe, hamstring, and knee issues led to questions about his long-term health and affected his draft stock, causing him to fall to the second round.  Here is what I know about a knee injury.  It changes nearly every aspect of your lower body movement.  So the turf toe and hamstring could be related.  It makes him seem injury prone.  I guess the knee was not the most recent injury, so the others could have been a result of favoring the knee. Johnson did not run the 40 at the combine or pro day.  That suggests there is something he feels might drop his value.  So if you downplay the severity of the injury, have a history of possibly related injuries, and refuse to demonstrate (when given multiple opportunities) that you are fully recovered, don't get mad when your stock drops.
    • I saw numerous reports leading up to the draft that he'd been injury red flagged by numerous teams due to cartilage damage and wear issues that they think could shorten his career.
