Hardy for trade bait is at least a 1st probably a 1st plus more picks, you have a 15 sack season you are going to get interest regardless of asking price, but if I was hardy I wouldn't want to leave Carolina for Oakland

We gotta be careful with that poo, or we'll never get out of the hole we're in.  Plus, we might do okay with a DE by committee approach for a year or two until someone else blossoms, considering Star, KK, and CJ.

If we can get 2 first out of someone then do it now. Usually its the bad teams that make these dumb trades giving away picks therefor those firsts would be high.

My question is if we tag Hardy and trade him, would we still get any kind of hit against the cap because of the franchise tag?  In the old system, the team that trades for the player is the one who deals with the cap hit.  Yet I don't know about this new system.  Some people were talking yesterday that we would still have to use up some cap space because of the franchise tag, no matter if we do trade them.  Is this true, or are people just talking nonsense?

You could get Allen type compensation for him, 1st round pick and 2 third rounders. Even if teams know you have to get rid of him, elite level DE's are hard to come by and have a premium price tag.

Him at that money or an elite #1 WR..I'll take the latter. Use draft pick to replace him. Better luck finding a very good DE than us drafting an elite WR.

Well I hate getting rid of Hardy but I guess I moved on from Julius Peppers so I I hope whoever is up next can make me not remember him. I think Ill miss his antics more than anything.

So we tag him and hope a team wants him so we get first round picks as compensation, so what happens to the cap in terms of hardys deal? How much counts against the cap? Or are we not accountable for it if another teams signs him, is that part if the trade and picks? Sorry to play dumb but so many opinions what's the fact?

I'm not sure that I would break the bank with Hardy.... the guy is good, but he really wasn't that consistent over the entire season, and 4 of those sacks at the end of the year were against a rookie starting his first game. Against a pro-bowler in Staley(San Fran) he was held w/o a sack 2x

ok I will say this one last time.  You cant measure what Hardy did for this defense by sacks alone.  The guy was disruptive and got pressure on the qb and did alot of things to help the other members of the defense get sacks like taking the double team.
