Priority Number 1 - Offensive Line

Why do we need an upgraded line?? I thought it was common knowledge here that the whole fault was Shula's and bringing in Norm or someone else would fix the problem.

Oh wait..................

You mean the poor line and crappy receivers might have something to do with why the offense struggled????

What a novel concept.....

Yeah people just love deflecting everything on Shula, gets too much hate on this board

I just watched the Gettleman interview and although he was vague I got the impression that he wants to bulk up the O-line. That's not surprising considering our style of offense. Rivera was also vague but he's had his eye on the secondary.

We're a run first play-action pass offense with some read option mixed into things. That's unlikely to change, so I'm expecting Gettleman to want hog mollies to add to our O-line. LT - Gross. LG - Amini. C - Kalil. RG - Competition between Kugbila, Williams, and a gigantic draft pick. RT - Competition between Bell and an Otah sized draft pick.

I couldn't agree with this any more. Rarely do you see late first round WR's top 1,000 yards in their first year, most of the good ones end up with 500-600 yards and that's not bad, but definitely not going to dynamically change our Offense. There's a reason people look for "Third year Wide Recievers" and anyone who's played Fantasy Football for any significant time knows what I'm talking about, it's about that time when things really click for wideouts.

You can say that for many positions. It's not an instant plug and play for QB, DT, or CB for example most of the time and that's also the case for DEs fairly often if they don't outright bust. Doesn't mean you don't draft to develop someone if they have tremendous talent just because they're a little raw.

Too funny...other teams need olinemen too.

DG will go best player available in rounds 1 and 2 and drafting number 28, what other choice does he really have.

Who knows maybe there will be a Keenan Allan sitting there again.,,but we can't seem to pass on those guards from no name schools who wind up in injured reserve or have to learn how to play...yes I know I am bitter.

    • Hey if they could beat Seattle… tiebreaker head to head over GB, LARms, Seattle… win out the record is 11-6.  Now rap my knuckles for suggesting we win out, but that would be some funny poo. Talk about sneaking up on people.
    • I expected 6 wins this season. I need to see the Panthers blow by that now that they exceeded it by 1. I like how Canales has schemed around the weaknesses on offense in the passing game. I am impressed with the receivers, run blocking, running back combo and secondary communication in zone. Defense and QB need more consistency. The improvement of the defensive play calling and critical 3rd down and 4Q passing when trailing is going to be what I am looking for going into the playoffs. If the Panthers can consistently regain the lead after trailing over the next 4 games, I can see them competing in the playoffs and worth a reevaluation of the last 2 seasons' weaknesses. This is the prove it or lose it moment in their Panthers careers for Young and Evero. No excuses.
    • He's on the smaller size for a center (5'8" 175lbs) and he is a bit of a liability in the faceoff circle. But, he's a proven 60 pt player with room to grow. I'd still rather go get TT from Buffalo. Rossi would be a great consolation prize, though.
