Very heavily considering moving to NC by the late summer/early fall.

I write short science-fiction and horror, am trying to mess around with film, and am trying my hands at a couple novels: wondering which cities would be more favorable to a creative soul like me.  Hearing a lot of good things about Asheville and I'm wondering what kind of work is most easily gotten there?  My recent work is as a hab tech at an overnight home for the developmentally disabled and a sound mixer and master control op at a tv station about 120 miles from my current location...

Wilmington is the perfect mix of rich assholes, rednecks, beach bums, transplants, local boating/fishing types, and gang bangers. Then you also have the fuzz, Kurb and Biscuit wrecking poo like bosses in the Port City. And you if you go to the right corners of town you will hear stories of my dominance on the high school football field. War Wildcats.

asheville or charlotte. wilmington reeks of douchebags minus a select few.

asheville is full of creative people; artists, photographers, musicians, amateur filmakers ect.

hard not to get inspired when you get to see things like this everyday

great music scene; all the big acts come through and play at the orange peel and grey eagle. but they are small venues so its a great comfortable setting. best beer city in america. unreal selection.  there are hippies and hipsters that can annoy the poo out of you but most people are very laid back and friendly mountain folk. its got that small town feel for a city. very easy to make friends and network.

it's the san fran of the east. it does get a bit touristy in the fall cause of the leaves and poo but man this is one of the best cities in america imo.

a lot of my friends work at the breweries or restaurants downtown so they can pay for rent, food, ect. and use their extra time honing their true passions so to speak. you'll find a lot of people like that in asheville.

yeah, I'm hoping for another tv gig, even if it's being MCO (read: programming bitch) or some kind of data entry while I try to make a film that isn't a complete disaster like my first couple attempts...

Uh.....have you been to Charlotte lately?

I see more affliction and UFC dudes walking the streets there than anywhere else in NC.

    • Who were we going to trade up with? The Dolphins wanted Proctor, the Rams were vehement on taking Ty Simpson, the Ravens wanted Ioane, and the Bucs werent trading with us except for maybe a kings ransom. Even if we wanted to move, we had no partner. Moot point.
    • Devin Lloyd is a stud lb but who is next to him? Prince and Nic should improve. Lee was super value but i am not counting this fourth round chicken yet. I would expect some improvement; hope to eat my words w/ a top ten D.
    • I mean I agree about diminished Cam probably still being viable. Even though it gave a preview of how teams would defend the pass against a limited QB. There was an issue with the upcoming contract he was due to get and his expectations vs the new reality of his physical status - that people tend to  overlook when looking back on it  It had an effect on things I believe   But I do have to ask… what about Tepper’s second major move? fuging clueless   I mean I would take even an injured  Cam over Bryce all day long.
