my GF's family all live in Akron and are diehard Brownies. They all want Johnny Football. That team is a disaster man. I legit feel bad for that fan base. There's a very fine line between passion and delusion.

Yeah but they are loyal, I have to given them that.

extremely loyal. The ones I know up there are already planning their trip to Charlotte for the Browns/Panthers game here next season. You won't see 20 of the 32 NFL teams represented in NE Ohio like you will in Charlotte. There's more Steelers fans in Charlotte and Pittsburg is like 2 hours from Cleveland.

I don't know why people bash Manziel about his off the field stuff.  If you watch him enough there is plenty to bash him about for his on the field stuff.  He scrambles when he does not need to,  he forces the ball about half the time, a lot of his big plays are jump balls to one of the biggest receiver in college football, he always goes for the big play and hardly ever takes the checkdown, even when it is a giveme first down.  He tries to run over half the guys in the secondary when he is one of the smallest guys on the field.

He has talent don't get me wrong, but if he tries to do what he did in college in the NFL and doesn't take coaching I give him about 3 years.  By then he will either be broken in half or in the CFL.

If he learns to take the safe throws and not try to run on every other play or always go for the big play every time he could be great.   But he never changed a thing in college what makes you think he will in the NFL?

Manziel to Josh Gordon could be a very nice 1-2 punch. They still need a RB and their defense is whatever.

THe only 2 teams in the top10 that are set at QB are Atlanta and Detroit. I'm gonna be surprised, not saying I would draft him in top 10, but I will be surprised if Manziel makes it out of the top10.

So he's inconsistent due to his consistent stats? Yeah that makes sense.

So in review: I'm not saying I dislike him because his attitude, it's because he's inconsistent for reasons I can't explain or validate.

But I'm totally not against him due to his attitude.

From Greg Cosell, who actually does make a living scouting players...

NFL Films producer Greg Cosell isn't quite sure what to make of Texas A&M star Johnny Manziel, but he sure didn't like what he saw in the 2012 Heisman Trophy winner's last two regular-season games. Speaking with the Midday 180 radio program in Nashville (comments at 16:35 mark), Cosell said he doesn't believe any of the top quarterbacks in the 2014 draft, Manziel included, stand out as the type of passer who would stand out as a surefire top-10 pick in most drafts.

2014 NFL Draft

"He played two games this year, LSU and Missouri,(and) if those were the first two games you put on and watched, you'd say he was almost undraftable," Cosell said. "He was so bad in those two games, that you'd struggle to figure out, can I even draft this guy?"

...

"I've studied him maybe the hardest, because he's maybe the most polarizing player. As you evaluate and transition him, there is a wide variation in his play. So there is a consistency issue," Cosell added. "... At times, he's shown very strong flashes of structured pocket play that clearly projects to the NFL. So I think it will come down to how you balance these issues. He's much more of a see-it, throw-it quarterback than an anticipation thrower. He's not really a timing and anticipation thrower on film."

Johnny Football will always be hated by the subset of college football fans that want their QB's to pretend to be humble and love Jesus while they beat their girlfriends and date rape half the campus. I can't wait for him to make even more enemies in the NFL.

Somebody tell me what he's done wrong other than be honest? People act like he's the only college football player living his weekends at the bar.

that doesn't mean you have to like him.

I mean he's a spoiled little entitled rich kid who happens to be a very good FB player. I'd be absolutely floored if he indeed didn't take that money to sign autos but it doesn't really matter now. I don't have a problem with the guy going out and getting trashed as long as he isn't killing anyone or raping anyone and he doesn't bring it to work with him.

A legit concern I would have is if he's going to want to put in the work and stay long hours. His size is obviously a concern too but like I said, if I were the Browns/Jags/Raiders....I'd certainly being looking at Manziel as a potential top pick.

As draft analysts go, I was a much bigger fan of Joel Buchsbaum. The only argument I made was that his analysis wasn't racist.

But by all means, please show me the racism in the profile of Teddy Bridgewater linked above, if you can.

"I'm not racist! Why, my gosh, I have FRIENDS who are black!"

In college, he was a better QB than Russell Wilson. And (in college) just as (or more) consistent.

You either did not watch much college football or you did not understand what you were watching.  He was not even close to as consistent.  Made bigger highlight plays - yes, in every game.  But made just about as made wtf plays if you watch more than just the highlights they show on ESPN.

Oh, I think Manziel is a fine college quarterback.  Don't see him being great in the pros.

Yeah scots only reason he doesn't like manziel is his attitude which I don't get. If I was a qb If play and act exactly like manziel. The kid knows he has talent what is he suppose to do? Act like he doesn't?

I guess Greg Cosell - and any other draft analyst who questions his play - must have ulterior motives too, right?
