Guess who got 16 reps on the bench press today

top dawg

Bullshit!  It takes a certain amount of strength to lift a certain amount of weight. If you want to increase your strength, you work yourself into lifting more and more weight.

this describes literally every single lift

Almost no teams let wide receivers bench press anyway because the potential for injury and loss of range of motion is too high.

Cooks put up fantastic numbers in college, but I look at our situation, and just think Matthew's would be a better pick at 28.

Our QB likes bigger WRs, and Matthew's was nearly as productive as Cooks in college, and he did it at Vanderbuilt playing in the SEC.

Steve Smith is already a short WR, and asking Cam to throw to another very short NFL WR in the midst of watching DBs get bigger just seems like a bad idea.

If we pick WR at 28 it is our job to get the best WR that fits our need. I believe in giving Cam a guy whose 5 inches taller, has a 3 inch greater arm length, and inch longer hands. Matthew's has good speed, and he's not going to get redirected as much as Cooks is.

The fug does the bench press matter for drafting receivers? Y'all need to stop playing GM so hard haha.

It's an indicator of ability to beat the press and that's about it.

That's pretty important though. I was worried about that because of his size.

He 's not good. His hands are not good. He is big and thats it.

LOL you're kidding right? He's big and that's it? Alright man, whatever you say...

His hands are actually solid, if you watched the kid you would see he plucks the ball on a somewhat regular basis instead of letting it come into his chest as much. He has concentration drops like most guys, but to say his hands aren't good is 100% inaccurate.

Have you personally asked him this? Can you tell me what he likes for dinner on a typical Wednesday while you're at it?

Three things. 1. Strength is a great indicator of a players work ethic. Is he willing to do everything needed to be the best? Please do not discount how much being strong plays into a WRs success.

2. We need playmakers. I could care less how tall he is. Can the guy make plays? If so, I will be happy with him.

3. DBs are not going to suddenly become taller. There is a correlation between being too tall and loosing your flexibility. Sure there may be a few taller DBs, but generally, they are not going to get much bigger.

And just to add something for the hellz of it. This thread was a 3 page thread stuffed in a 14 page body.

    • I mean, if Moore really wants out, then it would behoove the Bears to make it happen sooner than later. X is a lot younger and cheaper, and may be a better fit for Johnson's musings than a disgruntled, unnecessary, overpaid vet. If they can dump his salary and maybe get a fourth or so in return, it may be worth it to them. As for development, I'm not concerned. You're talking about a seeming bust, a day three guy and a UDFA. They are developing relative to their ceilings. I doubt any of them will ever command the coverage, money, or the respect that Moore has acquired. He's a tier above them. Yes, even X.
    • IMO, if Ceedee plays against us, the game probably goes the other way. Same with Tyreek Hill and the Dolphins. Our team just isn't designed to beat teams with two high level receivers like that. But when you look at the league, how many teams really have two guys of that caliber?  There's nothing wrong with defensive adjustments, but sometimes I think a lot of fans want Evero to call a different play like a game on madden, and defensive football just isn't like that. That said, I thought we did a much better job this season against the Cowboys of flipping Jaycee and at least making them work for it, opposed to last season when they literally just lined CeeDee up on the other side of the field every single snap.  For us to just straight up switch to consistent man coverage, or a different zone, or whatever, we likely would consistently need different personnel on the field. Doing it a few times a game is a gamble and can work, but if we consistently run man coverage against the Cowboys, eventually a RB is going to beat a linebacker, or something of that nature with our personnel. Part of the reason Evero likes this scheme is that, while we have our defaults and presets, what we do is very multiple, and you can do a lot of different things pre and post snap. We are a challenging defense to read. But as you said, if guys are getting beat, it doesn't really matter what you call.
