Antonio Richardson breakdown?

That's why I believe that we will use the first pick on something else other than offensive tackle. I'm thinking that G-man will address that in FA.

Someone will still probably snap up Richardson in the second (depending), but I would rather have James in the third, but he may not last that long.

If I had to bet I would say something other than OL as well. WR, TE, CB. The varett CB looked good at the combine but a bit small. I'm thinking we'll have several FA linemen here on the cheap. Worked for the secondary this year.

I think he is outstanding and will be a LT. Clowney beat him a few times this year, but Tiny won that matchup in 2012.

UT didn't have a competent QB this season, but they did in 2012. I don't remember the numbers exactly, but I think Tyler Bray was like the least sacked QB in TN history.

UT's rushing numbers were pretty ridiculous this year. What's the scoop with his knee? The report said he handled clowney in 2012. I'm intrigued by how the panthers scouts grade him out.

FYI

Antonio "Tiny" Richardson, OT, Tennessee: Once hailed as a potential first-round selection, Richardson's stock is certain to tumble after a disappointing workout on Saturday. The Tennessee standout clocked an underwhelming 5.30-second 40 time and looked like a limited athlete in drills. He didn't exhibit the smoothness or fluidity that scouts expect from an elite edge blocker. Additionally, my colleague Charles Davis floated the possibility of knee issues torpedoing Richardson's stock. While those reports haven't been confirmed, the combination of medical questions and poor performance could knock Richardson down the charts despite the flashes he's shown throughout his career.

he could be a star type pick that falls because of bogus health info or he could end up being someone we have to wait a year for him to be healthy enough to start. we have to trust our team doctors on that, but i sure don't want to see another rookie OL have to sit his first year and have this concern about him being a  bust who could never get healthy.

if he's not healthy enough to start out of the gate, i don't want him. we can't afford to play that game anymore.

aside from the health issues, he seems decent enough except i see him as being susceptible to speedy or athletic pass rushers. i'm not buying th clowney hype completly cause i think he's only going to be a threat a few plays a game, but if the falcons draft him and you draft a guy that clowney burned on a regular basis expecting him to protect cam, you're asking for trouble.

there's just too many caution flags surrounding this guy for me to want to give up an early pick.

I hate to say it, but sometimes, when there's smoke, there's fire.  Now with Star, we lucked out in that it was a bunch of false smoke.  Does that happen twice?  I'm not sure we're that lucky.

After the whole Otah thing, I think many fans are extremely worried about a lineman's knees, as it seems those are the first things to go out (along with Backs and Shoulders shortly after).  So as I think about possible lineman to swoon over, I'm going to take a oddly Jordan Gross look at them.

1.  Quality of play / tape / ect - you know the drill.  Were you a good player?

2.  The work outs - like this was the biggest job interview of your life, how prepared were you?

3.  How do they look physically?  Jordan Gross has always looked like a huge dude, but proportional.  Like from a distance he just looks kind of like a slightly bigger dude.  Otah looked MASSIVE no matter the distance.  Some of these guys look pumped up no matter the perspective.  That's a "red flag" in that they've had to push their bodies beyond it's natural boundaries to get big enough.  To me, that kind of imbalance looks like it "could" lead to future problems.

Sometimes this is a complete non issue, but if a guy has knee injuries, I'm going to give him a major proportional look.  If his body is huge, and legs long and "thin," then I can see where those knees are going to carry more load than they were designed.

Hopefully this makes some sense.

I thought you guys didn't listen to Charles Davis.  Which is it?

Knoxville sports radio was talking this morning about how none of them had ever heard anything about Tiny having a knee issue.  I've seen mention on here of his poor combine performance, but NFL.com has him listed as a "Top Performer" in both 40 time and bench press.  He got up 36 reps.  I can do just one!

    • We’re in a pickle. My best hope is we protect him and can run the ball vs most Ds and the WRs are healthy so he has every chance to not look like what he looked like in too many games last year.
    • I'm really not stressing about upgrading from Bryce. I'm frustrated with our inability (or refusal) to recognize overall bad QB performance and failure to seriously address the issue. QB is the most impactful position on the field, and we're not only settling for what we've been given to this point, but we've rewarded it with a fully guaranteed 5th year extension for a player that's never played 2 NFL franchise QB quality games back to back in 3 seasons. I can't understand how that's ok from a coach's or GM's viewpoint. Successful franchises don't do things like this. It just doesn't make sense.  We do not have a top half of the league QB right now. Since we don't have that player, we should be looking for him. Pickett isn't it. Grier isn't it. Bryce hasn't proven he is yet. Until you have that sure fire franchise QB, you keep looking. You're not consistently making the playoffs, a deep run, or a SB appearance without one.  What's the worst that could happen? We end up with 2 potential number 1 QBs? How horrible.
    • Easy to understand Pickett, if this is anywhere close to on point. Canales wants to get as close to Bryce as he can- get the pace and timing in the throws as close a he can to Bryce. So the other players don’t have to adjust so much, to a new guy.       If Cam was the 1, he would look for a rocket arm.  But Bryce is the 1. Look for limited in the same way.  Low velocity, plenty of air under it, feels just like home when Picket comes in. And you have the guys on the second team not having such a radical adjustment (if they have to play) like with Dalton to Bryce.    Enter Grier. I guess we will collect those types.
