Kaepernick wants $18MM per year

Russ is. He struggled a little during the playoffs but he's great.

Kaep on the other hand..... WOW. $18M per year for a QB with the arm of Derek Anderson and the decision making ability of Daunte Culpepper. Awesome. Where do we sign up?

Wilson has been a game manager, without that defense he's not taking Seattle to the playoffs. I love Wilson, but he's not the reason they got the ring.

Over the past year, several quarterbacks have procured mind-boggling extensions, and Kaepernick has already out-produced them in his short career. Matthew StaffordTony Romo and Jay Cutler all received contracts over the past year that pay them around $18 million a season, and the numbers show Kaepernick is worth even more than that.

Stafford has an average QBR of 53.3 in the regular season and is 0-1 in the postseason. Romo has an average QBR of 63.4 in the regular season with a postseason QBR of 50.4 and a record of 1-3. Cutler’s average QBR in the regular season is 56.4 but drops to 39.1 in the postseason where he has a record of 1-1. Kaepernick’s regular season QBR is 69.9 and rises to 87.5 in the postseason where he has a record of 4-2 including a Super Bowl appearance.

The numbers illustrate that Kaepernick is due for a major pay increase, and his electrifying play on the field has 49ers fans supporting this move. Kaepernick should get a franchise quarterback deal this offseason and continue to lead the 49ers to new heights in the future.

None of them were worth that money.

Kaepernick isn't either.

    • Trade up for a project was dumb, he's gonna be 25 next month. By the time you're deciding on whether he's worth the 5th year option or a big contract you're already gonna be thinking about moving on soon either way.
    • I mean this is legit AF statement....you don't spend that draft capital on a project just like you don't trade up for an injured RB either, which was done in the same draft.  That draft IMO was a necessary evil for DM to learn from his mistakes (I think he did but some may not). Also I have to mention I'm a big Coker fan and think getting him as an UDFA was obv a steal.  Coker is the better WR2 at this point as Legette and its not even debatable unfortunately.  Give him year 3 but don't expect much from him.  Continue in the offseason with adding as much talent and competition on the roster as possible including WR.  Or just trade his ass for peanuts and continue to build roster by any means.......
    • Losing him was a huge loss. Look at how the Bears went from a 5 win team to now a 11 win team. The Lions offensive line is bad this year, secondary is bad and Campbell going for it on 4th down all the time has cost them games instead of taking the Field Goals. Goff is inconsistent as well.
