Person: Nicks is Panthers' top FA target (Offering $4.5m/year per La Canfora)

Decker got about $6M per season and Cooper got $5M per season.

Hope $4.5M gets it done...may need to sweeten the pot just a little.

That was my first thought--however, we are looking at day 3 of free agency and Nicks had a bad year in 2013 to go along with some character (late for meetings, etc) issues.   I am guessing we are in the ballpark.

For the #Panthers, this offseason has been and will be about bringing in more weapons and better protection for Cam Newton.

And yes, Nicks is in play. As is Ginn. As are a few others. If they can make it all happen, they’ll be happy. Fans could be too, come Week 1

But, but, but....we have no plan and we are tanking the season.

I hope so.

I want Nicks, Ginn, and Collins.

We can plug and play some pieces in the secondary and add some other pieces in the draft.

If this plays out (Nicks, Ginn, and rookie) are better than Smith, Lafell, and Ginn

If he hasn't signed for all our cap space he won't. And we still need 10 mil for our LT Collins and draft picks combined.

Just jump already.

They just need to put a lot of performace incentives in his deal to sweeten it

Under the circumstances, I would offer him a 3-year deal that is laden with performance incentives.  Good call.

Nicks, if you ask me, would like to come home because the press and fans in NY were brutal.  When the world bites you in the ass, there is only one person who can make it better (when you are in your twenties)--Mama.

If Coughlin;s style was part of the problem, Nicks may opt for someone whose coaching style is opposite.  All 3 teams that are rumored to be in play-the Panthers, Bengals, and Bucs-have "player's coaches."  If Hakeem wants a minority coach, all are in play--if he feels better communicating with a black coach, we are out of play.  I don't think race will matter, but you never know.

The thing to remember about Nicks is this--he wanted to go to a team where he would be the top dog.  The Panthers offer that.  He has a choice between Cam Newton and nobody,  playing withDalton, whose primary target is AJ Greene, or with McCown/Glennon, who kinda likes VIncent Jackson.

I am guessing that he wants to come here.  This gets done no later than Friday.

    • Not in same league. Caldwell just hit a 10.00 on the RAS. 2nd out of 3830 from 1987 onward.  https://x.com/MathBomb/status/2027885023387349047 Yeah I mean Louis had a sub 9.00 RAS. Still very very good, no doubt. Louis is small, no 2 ways about it. He is likely a sub package lb in nickel packages or specialized WLB. Be fine ST gunner to start for sure. 6 foot flat and 220lb is pushing it for a starting LB. At 10 to 20lbs less than the other LBs he'd better be closer to the top in most timed drills. He's gonna be challenged when some of the wrs in the class can matchup bigger stronger faster, much less TE in the run game.  Yeah instinct matter and he has them, but that size is a massive red flag compared to many of the other LBS in this class.    Rodriguez is the LB that really climbed this week from a pure grit guy to great flash with athleticism people wrote off cause he was a QB at first at UVA. 18.4mph in the backpedal. Production the last 2 years were great. I'd be thrilled with him as the future mike.   Hill likely moved out of 51 and into the top 45 picks ( Ravens at 45 I can't imagine don't bite if he makes it there). Honestly Hill imo is a 1st rounder and I'd be ok with him as he fits the MLB we have missed the last few years. People would crow it's a reach but he's top 30 all-time I'm RAS for a LB at 9.9+ . Plus he was big time in big games when he was healthy. And that br a big check: meds.
    • Miller, Melo, Coby, Moose, and Bridges all on the floor at the same time must be a nightmare for defenses lol. Switch one out for Kon and still a nightmare. Coby really does bring a true 6th man value and looks like he could start if Melo was out after only a few games of getting his feet wet.
