Something Stinks in Charlotte

it's a different between being a hard-nose when needed and there's also a different between being one when not needed

dg apparently does not know the difference,i hope like hell i'm wrong but i think he wasted a prime chance to get this team as a consistent winner and a step closer from being a franchise we all dream of(depends)

Gettleman was asked whether Newton was the quarterback to build around.

After a pregnant, seven-second pause, Gettleman said: “Yes, he is. But now it’s time to win.”

Carolina Panthers: Two areas of weakness got weaker during the first couple of days of free agency. Steve Smith was cut, Ted Ginn Jr. signed with Arizona, Domenik Hixon left for Chicago and Brandon LaFell is a free agent. If LaFell leaves, the Panthers will have to rebuild the entire wide receiving corps. The secondary is another area of concern. Cornerback Captain Munnerlyn and safety Mike Mitchell left for different teams. There are also holes along the offensive line with the retirement of left tackle Jordan Gross, the retirement of Geoff Hangartner and Travelle Wharton being unsigned.

I believe Cam Newton has been hung out to dry by Gettleman. I believe Dave Gettleman claiming the time to win is now while at the same time creating more roster holes than a screen door does nothing but put Newton in an almost no-win situation.

I see Newton moving on to another team when his time in Charlotte is up.

I have been wrong many times, but I see Gettleman getting rid of Newton for a couple reasons.

1)  He did not draft Newton.

2)  Gettleman is more of a Luck/Manning type of guy and not interested in a mobile QB.

3)  Newton has value and Gettleman may actually be able to get something for him while tanking the 2014 season, thus allowing for a high draft pick.

Anyway....it's definitely crossed my mind especially considering his hesitance about backing Newton as the Franchise guy.
