Yes. And here's the thing that made me conclude there is no reason to continue with Bryce. I don't see him ever being able to lead us on a deep playoff run. Not ever. Even if we squeak through it at 9-8 and win a weak division, we're going nowhere in the playoffs because he will never scare any defenses. We're just too easy to defend even if he is playing at his best.

Hooker is terrible, Dalton is too old, Bryce's ceiling is Trent Dilfer with no arm. The rest of the team might actually be pretty good. It's a damn shame to waste that by not trying to get a quarterback who might be able to actually do something.

His strength is definitely the off-script plays, specifically in the red zone to where the play is extended. The play to Tmac last week and the play to XL today is where he shines. Unfortunately those plays only happen every so often

Ugly wins are wins. 2003's Super Bowl run was built on ugly wins. I'd rather win ugly than lose. We're 4-3 with three wins in a row, and we'd have been 5-2 if we won the very winnable Arizona game. We're 1-0 in the division. Our defense is suffocating. The run game is good. We're doing well enough in the passing game to win. Our rookies are contributing. This is our best string of football since 2018 and I'm sorry but I'm ready to just enjoy winning.

The jury is out on Howell. It's in on Bryce. Howell only played one year and did make a lot of mistakes that year just like other QBS have made a lot of mistakes in their first year. Maybe with more experience in a different situation he'll do better, who knows? We do know that Bryce isn't the answer.
