This tells me that the Front Office likely doesn't see us as a playoff team this year. That's ridiculous considering what we gave up for Bryce and that he's in his third year.

Everything revolves around Bryce This Year

it's a result of some ultra rich ego maniac that buys an NFL franchise & does not really understand ir let's say know poo about professional football & all at the same time thinks he knows everything that's why every season you see much of the same thing constantly repeating itself ...just saying -
Each offseason if I were GM, would I pay ~$2mil for the equivalent of an extra 4th or 5th round pick two years out? I would. Every time. The downside was the extra millions we locked up during free agency that could have been used elsewhere. I don’t think that extra 6 or so million would have made a huge difference this year. Maybe it will come in handy now with waiver claims.

Tmac has NEVER logged a real NFL snap. Againt #1 corners each week....Tmac could also have a really slow start to the NFL figuring out how to get open which wouldn't free up anything.
-
but upon reflecting on the Hunter cut, it's because a true quick slot game is just flat out not something Dave Canales is going to want or need in his O scheme. Renfrow does a very specific thing and you have to want to do that on O. Canales is downfield chunk O. That's not something Renfrow fits. and AT was NEVER a real slot WR here. He was a WR that moved inside because he couldn't get the job done outside. Which means he lacks all the tools of traditional slot WRs. AT was a small TE for Canales and Bryce went to him because Bryce is just going to always go to that area of the field when the other option is chunk on the outside (which isn't his game).

He wasn't subject to waivers, maybe it was all part of a grand plan!
-
Collect prospects is the way to go for a team that is years away from a deep run.
-
well, Carolina was in theory on the right track. They hired Dave. Seemed to make an agreement they would move on from a QB who 100% doesn't fit what Dave does. They slammed the door on Bryce Young after 2 a mere 2 games and the table was set. But in typical Carolina fashion (much like the Wilks in season tank job)......they can't do anything right. Despite how improbable the rise from the dead was....Carolina allowed it to happen. My avatar will never change.

Sometimes the salary in exchange for vet leadership is worth the cost. Now that AT is gone, I guess….poo I don’t know who the veteran leader is.
-
I know, just doubling down. They are gonna run out of excuses yet again under Tepper's perpetually sinking ship
-
Agreed but it makes some sense. TMac is going to be a focus on the offense, XL should be freed up in the Z, and Coker is young and promising. They all need reps
-
Great they traded the only reliable pass catcher from last season
-
When youre limited by the people who will actually take the job because your owner has the track record he does, you end up with the Carolina Teppers.
-
we are the worst run org in all of professional sports. So it actually makes total sense. and Dave's scheme doesn't value what Hunter Renfrow does. Nor what BY does well. The world of random parts mashed together will continue in Carolina and somehow it's the players' fault when it's really the braintrust who just doesn't know how to get it done. so expect another season of WRs being largely covered. Bryce being near the top in bad pass % because his play style/strengths and the scheme don't fit together....and meh O.
-
When I think about guys to tutor WRs, David Moore is not who I'm looking at and thinking he's someone I want my guys to be like.
-
Great QB's elevate those around them.
-
If that's the case he should have made this clear to them back in January or February.
-
Its simple. Keep theilen instead of cutting him and getting nothing to be able to get back Renfrow.
-
We dont know what went on behind the scenes. It's possible Thielen played the "I'll just retire if I don't get traded" card
-
He was a crutch but I don't know where the better options were. Let XL drop it? Try an easy-to-cover Tremble? Find Coker wide open on the bench? Dump off to Hubbard short of the sticks?

Josina Anderson: Panthers NOT trading Adam Thielen
KillerKat replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Welp I guess I know who NOT to listen to in the future. -
Probably some of both. I think we always had some leverage unless behind the scenes he had become quite vocal about wanting to leave. It's not like he was attempting to hold out or anything crazy. It's objectively pretty good value for an aging but still effective veteran in his last year or two of his career.

Woa there now Pointing out reasonable challenges that players face is regarded as "making excuses" and "carrying the water" around these parts.
