Javonte Williams DALRunning Back#33 Cowboys signed RB Javonte Williams to a three-year, $24 million contract. No doubt we were running better without Corbett out there. Crazy thing is we still ran better with Curhen out there than Corbett. I would love to see a graphic of what % of our run plays were right of the center and inside of the right tackle - it felt like 60% of our run plays the back half of the season were either right of the center or right of the guard, which made no sense when Icky and Lewis are probably our best 2 run blocking offensive linemen

Great point. The trends I mentioned are reinforced by the very teams that think the same way in terms of which positions are premiums (mostly teams that are very good too). How many super bowl teams have a remmers at OT? How many of the perennial playoff contenders?

Best safety maybe kyle hamilton, the 8th best edge is Maxx Crosby. Id take maxx even with Myles or TJ on the roster. Plus if you don't like Maxx as 8th best, Id take whoever the 8th best edge is over the Kyle. Panthers need a starter level edge, the only realistic shot is using the 1st rounder. But if somehow a stud LT pulls out a gas mask and falls to 19, draft them if much higher ranked. The funny deal is those teams drafting in the late portion of drafts don't need edge, QB, WR, or OT..... I wonder why?!??? hmmmmmmm.... plus it pays off for them, cause they do need OG, ILB, TE, safety..... and now they get a top level player to remain great....

Wrong conclusion. FOs should look at this and say “What can I do to better set up my top pick to succeed?” Not say welp I guess I just shouldn’t draft the most talented player at the most important position. It’s like saying the Cavaliers shouldn’t have drafted Lebron because they did a poor job building around him and he didn’t start winning championships until he left. It’s silly. Should teams also look and say “wow look at all these super bowls won by QBs drafted in the 5th round, guess that’s the best round to draft a QB.” Nonsense.

You dont draft guards, centers, safeties, ILB or tight ends in the first round unless they are sure fire HOF types, like Quenton Nelson. The cost for top flight OT, DT, DE/OLB, QB, WR, and CB are so much higher relative to those others, its almost always the wrong move to draft any that arent those five. There are also always more of the first group available in free agency with CB and WR sometimes available because there are so many (raw numbers) drafted. Play the odds folks.

Not sure why expectations were so high of him. He is talented. He is capable. I knew he wouldn't come in here and become a starter without injury. Players need development.

I think if the NFL can get QB contracts back down to earth, they'd have more time before they give up. 3 years and it's extension time. 30-40m a season for a guy you hope might develop. It's just crippling to the cap if you're wrong, and the ones that are going to sit for a couple of years aren't going to go in the top 10. Expectations aren't realistic because the cap implications are just too damned big.

It was an example. The point remains. Regardless of position, if the player's value is clearly higher than other positions of need, you take the best player.
