Trade him. Trying to find him reps on game days will be pointless. Why have a former first rounder sit on the bench? I would even take a future day 3 pick or player-for-player swap. We just drafted his clone. I thought if we went WR, it would be for a pure slot guy. The fact that we went out and drafted a player in what we thought we had in XL is very telling.

Round 5: The Carolina Panthers select S Zakee Wheatley (Penn State)

Still can’t figure out how he fell to round 5 aside from it just being a loaded safety class. -
Round 5: The Carolina Panthers select S Zakee Wheatley (Penn State)

Good luck to him. Hope to see him out there breaking up passes and causing problems for offenses. Welcome aboard man, we need ya. -
He could be one of those guys that comes out of nowhere for us. He's got a seat at the table now and a paid gig for summer camp. He'll figure heavy into special teams and maybe get some time in the linebackers room learning from some of the best. He's got potential and he's got an opportunity. I hope it all pans out great for him and us.

Seems pretty harmless after the draft. But yeah, I wouldn't want scouts and other folks involved in the process generally unaccustomed to dealing with media questions to be talking about the draft before the draft. I like it. Now we know who to praise for the picks that work out and who to cuss for the ones that don't. LOL

This is awesome because you get to see the perspectives of the scouts--get a glimpse behind the curtain. I wonder whose doing this was; I am curious as to why David Tepper allowed it. Maybe it was his wife. Maybe Dan. At least from my perspective--and probably one shared by other fans--when David Tepper bought the team, he closed everything off too much to the fans, and really didn't give an explanation. Things were obviously done because he (and/or some others wanted to do it). Remember when they used the guise of construction and all that to keep fans from seeing the team during practice? I know there are laws and safety and all that, but Tepper could've made it happen. And, of course, we all know that they essentially fired Jeremy from his independent contractor gig as a photojournalist. I never understood why they'd do that (and the negative reverberations obviously affected Jeremy and ultimately this place--i.e, us fans). The pie was (and is) certainly big enough to throw some scraps to the independents. I realize that you can't necessarily open the floodgates, but a few different perspectives from indy journalists whether in word or photos is a good thing in my mind. So, it's great to see different perspectives. I will say this however: it is not without risk, as you know there will be some buster who will be calling the scouts out if the players flop. I think we should all keep in mind that the buck stops with the GM. It's nice to have one, however, that is so convicted in his people and process--and ultimately success, that he's willing to give fans access to this type of information. Pass this on to Tepper.

Round 5: The Carolina Panthers select C Sam Hecht (Kansas State)
Khyber53 replied to rodeo's topic in Carolina Panthers
I hope he ends up being our best ever at the position. Ryan Kalil left big shoes behind that we haven't quite been able to fill since. -
I do think this was really cool. My first reaction was they should give more media access to scouts but then pulled that thought back. If u have more people out there talking the higher the probability something slips that u didn’t want shared. But I do like the visibility with the guardrails and limitations. They definitely deserve the recognition.

Congratulations on the twin granddaughters. Sorry about the circumstances that y'all have to deal with in the meantime. I have twins and I'm glad you have older kids to help. It's rough at times but it's also fun and rewarding.

I have watched three of the four. Have not seen that from anyone else. Putting the scouts forward like that. It is pretty cool.

That's it. How do you feel about this draft class.

That's the problem. -
T Mac coker Brazell are locks I put Tremayne as a near lock they really like him a lot and he adds a lot So that leaves two spots for Moore, Horn, metchie and XL If had to guess right now Metchie gets cut, they try to stash away Horn on the PS and XL and Moore are on the team

We could have done better. Could have gotten 7 hall of famers, but only got 6 hall of famers and 1 bum.
-
Dan absolutely crushed it It's crazy because during the Hurney and Fitterer years most draft picks I was disappointed by or had to a lot of mental gymnastics to convince myself it was a good pick Now every selection I'm immediately like, great pick So fuging refreshing

Digging a little deeper: Brazzell did wear #7 at Tulane but currently taken by Moehrig. I think he initially wore #11 before switching to #17 at Tennessee. Also, he wore #3 when he played basketball in highschool.

Except when it comes to the Huddle... Apparently, some on here will think a player sucks and is a bust if they have a bad game during their rookie season

Round 5: The Carolina Panthers select C Sam Hecht (Kansas State)
45catfan replied to rodeo's topic in Carolina Panthers
Here's what I'm not getting, he was a top...if not the top center in this class and four guys went ahead of him. Why? Even Lew who is coming off knee surgery went ahead of Hecht. Anyways, a great get by Morgan and compnany! #2 Center-Site lumped all IOL. The lowest I saw him was C#3. -
Most impressive thing from game 4 for me
Panthers Fan 69 replied to PleaseCutStewart's topic in Carolina Hurricanes
Yep. I think the toughness question has been answered. One would think this team is fully galvanized and ready to go deep. -
Round 2: The Carolina Panthers select DT Lee Hunter (Texas Tech)
rmoneyg35 replied to rodeo's topic in Carolina Panthers
Am I not the only one impressed with the fact he had the second most pressures of any DT since 2023? I understand these picks aren’t sexy as you can’t just look at a box score and see everything a linemen does but I think this guy might end up being a good player for us. -
Oh wow, Mike Trgovac daughter…. Last time I saw her in 2008 when she walked with Mike, she was just a little kid. Cool to see her working for the Panthers.

nogoodbum replied to DaveThePanther2008's topic in Carolina Panthers
As a glass half-empty guy since Tepper bought the team, this is the most promising draft of recent years, IMO. Rumors from Nebraska say lack of a long snapper is telling, [sarcasm for those who can't tell]. -
Don’t remember this happening in previous years, but giving flowers and visibility to scouts involved in drafting certain prospects is awesome
