Pretty sure the Patriots game will be in place with lots of massage parlors. -

they want more money? Godalmighty -
Ouch. Maybe we can do a XL/Keon swap since they both need a change of scenery lol.

Really looks like Brandon Beane was littlefingering his way to more power. Appears he got a promotion, with somehow less responsibility of the personnel. His last few drafts are lacking at best. I was really upset when we lost him. I am really surprised about this, as all accounts were that Sean McDermott put his neck on the line to get Brandon Beane to Buffalo. That owner is something. Destroyed a really good Sabres franchise in the NHL, and then was blessed with one of the best QBs of a generation, and it sure looks like he's wasting it with the bills. Rumor is they want Brian Daboll, but there's a 0.0% shot I give that job to somebody that already has a less than stellar track record. I still have a lot of respect for Mcdermott. But he doesn't really come out of this looking great either. The leaks from the building are, in my opinion, clearly from Mcdermott's camp. I think the bills had to move on, but I'd have moved on from both. Mcdermott is still one of the best DC's in the game, and a really good defense first head coach.

80% of these free agents are better than him plus whatever is available in the draft. -

I think shortening preseason is inevitable with an 18 game schedule. I suspect there will be much more emphasis on joint practices among teams. -

I think 18 is inevitable as well, but why can't we just do two byes for every team then? I think that's more than deserved for these guys. -

A'Shawn Robinson is a valuable depth piece. He isn't some world beater, but he's a leader in the locker room and commands respect. I think we should pay him to stick around. -
19. Lomu OT 51. Golday LB 83. Wheatley S 119. Allar QB 156. Fisher LB This is the way.

It's still CJ by a wide margin. BY has closed the gap, but the gap is still considerably large. Let's not forget CJ was without basically ALL of his weapons in this last game against the Patriots, and I'm pretty sure he had an injury. BY lost to that same Pats team by like 40 points. In fairness, a good bit of that was due to the defense. That said, BY was completely incapable of keeping us in the game. Mistake free football does not always equal good football. He still had a bad game.

Playing QB in this league is tough. I can't hate on a man's work ethic without knowing exactly what it is. From everything I've read about him, I seriously doubt his work ethic has dropped. He had 2 concussions in 2 years, has his OL downgraded, got a different OC, and lost his best weapons due to injury in these short 2 years after his rookie year. Throw that in with teams having more film on him and the drop-off makes sense. Maybe he needs to change what he does in the offseason to adapt better, but I doubt he has an issues with work ethic.

18 is inevitable, not sure about the international requirement quite yet until the NFL breaks into asian markets. Get rid of preseason completely -
I agree…Defense and running the football….old Foxy had it right. Unfortunately the new NFL often negates great defense with questionable rules and subjective officiating. Player safety important but you have to let them play.
-
Yeah you have teams that turn around quickly with players like Burrow (when healthy) and Allen. The Bears and Pats just took top QBs 2 years ago. Yeah it’s easier for the QB when they go to better rosters later, but the QB needy teams are typically at the top of the draft.

Lot on these players bodies. Hope the players have enough sense to ask for increased roster numbers and compensation and other items

Unless you have a hall of fame QB, I think defenses win champtionships and I'd follow the Seattle model. Even the best QBs can't win without a good team and our defense is a couple players away from being elite and what I'd focus on if I'm Dan Morgan.

Big Ben on drafting a QB and roster building
SmokinwithWilly replied to NAS's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think it’s probably easier to find a QB once you have your team built and your system established. You know exactly what you need your QB to do and it narrows down your choices. So much of early QB problems revolve around fitting into the system or signifigantly adjusting the system to fit the QB. Plus you have that rookie cap space to work with, or if it's a FA bridge QB or reclamation project like Darnold or Baker, maybe you get lucky and catch lightning in a bottle. Dynasties are rare. Have the team built to take your shot in a 2-3 years window. -

Robinson needs to stay. Tremble is the only reliable TE on the roster that I'd trust in a big moment. He isn't great, but he's fairly reliable and I don't see him going anywhere unless they make a play for a big splash TE in free agency or draft one early. Sanders has all the potential, but can't stay healthy and isn't the best blocker. -
Please don't compare Tet to KB. KB was the garbage time king. I remember a stat that show he had 1/2 of his yards in the 4th quarter during blowouts against the 2nd team defenses.

Robinson would be the money-well-spent extension. Tremble has been blessed with a cool name that's easy to remember and some decent ability. Sadly, that doesn't translate into second contract kind of money with a crowded and under producing TE room already. -

Tremble probably goes to make way for whatever new TE comes in the offseason. I think Robinson gets an extension. Pat Jones could go either way. -
I mean this is the problem with how we tried to build. We took a team with some holes and traded away assets for a QB... Cam elevated the team when he was drafted. It was not a very good team. Remember it'd not done particularly well in 2009 and was atrocious in 2010 - because of QB... We added good TEs but we needed a QB to get them the ball. We also didn't need to trade current weapons and future picks for Cam... We just had him there.

Carolina Panthers - Potential cap casualties
TD alt replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
They all provide some value at or around their current numbers. I'd be reluctant to let a solid, but unspectacular, DT (or OT for that matter) just leave without talking to him. -
Meh. You don't necessarily trade a king's ransom for a draft pick, but you should strike when the opportunity presents itself. It's all about scouting and taking the BPA. You don't pass up on a viable QB---your guy who's just sitting there--just because it's year one to three and your team has holes. Just build your team.
