kungfoodude started following ESPN's Top 10 Impact Rookies(non-1st Round)
-
https://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2025/story/_/id/45025476/2025-nfl-draft-ranking-rookie-year-impact-mid-late-rounders Full disclosure, was not at all a fan of this pick in the 2nd BECAUSE I generally view him as being very limited in his pass rush ability. That said, he does have the makeup to be very capable of replacing Clowney, long term.

I mean, Legette is tracking as more of a #4/5 WR than a #1 WR at the moment.

So dumb I get it, they want to expand the reach of the NFL, but it's not the right sport to be playing games halfway around the world for a variety of reasons. But one of the main ones is what happens if a player has an injury in that game? A lot of times, you're not supposed to fly right after some injuries, so when they happen here it's not a big deal, the player stays in that town for a few days and then flys home separately. But that opens a whole bag of worms if the game is played all the way out in Australia. Plus just needing that long of a flight to get out there and back, even if they get a bye week after, it means a ton of travel and needing to adjust to a new time zone directly after another game. -
I don't think it was fear of the unknown because he tried to hide the extent of the injuries that made him drop. After the drop, the reports I heard were that teams knew what was wrong with his knee and it was something similar to another athlete from a few years ago (honestly don't remember if it was even a football player). That it was basically one of those things where he should be fine for a while, there isn't a huge concern of immediate injury risk. But what he has going on with his knee is something that is degenerative and there's little chance he'll be able to play more than 5 or so years on it before he won't be able to play anymore. So basically it was teams knowing if they draft him, he's probably going to be only a rookie contract player and even if he's great, you might not be able to get use out of him on a second contract. Which in turn makes the drop make sense, but I'm kinda surprised some contending team didn't take him late in the 1st, hoping he'd put them over the top on a SB run but then not even have to worry about giving him a big contract in 4 years too.
-
Depends if they see the writing on the wall with their roster and contracts and decide to bite the bullet and begin a complete rebuild and roster overhaul. I have no clue why some franchises (IE us) refuse to do this and keep half assing trying to win 8 games or so. Do it correctly, take your lumps and build a contender. We shall see what loomis decides.

Each team plays 17 games. I do not see why they don't just have each team play one international game per year. Neutral site game, 8 home, 8 away. -
Improving the line in front of him should give us a better look at what the young man can really do. Couple that with a year of experience under his belt and I hope he can take off. Sure would be nice for the linebacking corps here to be league best once again. We did set the mark very, very high around here.
-
and his usage will be intertwined with the safeties' usage. I kinda see what they might be doing. Send Moehrig and play Ransom deep, using Wallace covering the TE. Send Wallace, Moehrig in coverage, Ransom deep. Send Ransom and Wallace, Moehrig in coverage....Not sure exactly what it will look like, but keeping Horn was important. He is the shutdown CB that can cover in man. Jackson may need help over the top, so the need for a free safety that can read the entire field is not necessary; play deep third behind Jackson and the #2 WR. Just brainstorming--no need for an umbrella when I do that.

Panthers decision to pass on Walker

Yeah, I think he's gonna be a player I'm just not sure if he'll ever be the type of player you're hoping for out of a top 10 pick. -
He definitely is going to get the opportunity, and I remember him doing well when thrust into the fire last year. Wasn't he the guy they said was doing good having the headset and getting the plays in? For what it is worth, he is working out in my Madden Franchise too, haha. He has the Superstar development trait.

This is the Saints current QB room, a 2nd round rookie and former 4th and 5th round QBs. Pretty sad when Rattler is your best option even though Shough is tops of their depth chart for right now. Dude would have been a day 3 guy in the 2024 QB class right there with Rattler. A paper thin QB class pushed Shough to a day 2 pick. Expect them to sign a veteran before training camp.
-
D Carr must have really disliked the saints to wait and do this announcement after the draft has passed if he made this call a few weeks before the draft sure they would have approached it and the offseason differently. oh well will be interesting to see how their qbs perform. would love to see them roll with Thill and just make the whole offense towards his skillset. Although sadly would be only playing in about half the games with how often he gets injured.

I have to say it's quite fascinating seeing you pivot from months and months of wailing and agonizing about threads derailing into Bryce Young slingfests only for you to turn around and do the same thing. And just for the record. Nobody in life ever attained wisdom and clarity from mistakes by having people blindly fawn over them and tell them they are above reproach and incapable of making mistakes. Our front office is just as human as we are. And based on the fact that front offices across the league outside of a handful of teams change on a fairly regular basis it's safe to say they are certainly no more infallible than the average Joe even though they possess significantly more knowledge usually. If you want a utopia where all you do is shine shoes for anyone associated with the Panthers you go right on ahead and create yourself a new community sir. More power to you.

I trust Morgan when it comes to LBs so I think Wallace will do well.
-
Meh... he's just motivating himself. Plenty of guys who fall in the draft do this. I never fault a draft prospect for trying to get drafted as highly as possible, I mean that's your job in the moment as a draft prospect. Your analogy doesn't work because the dealership (maybe the individual salesman, maybe not) was trying to to obscure information. Johnson went through all the pre-draft medical checks. He wasn't hiding anything.

Im hopeful for him For a mid-round rookie behind a trash DL I thought he showed decent promise.

Trevin Wallace - PFF Breakout Nominee
flagfootballcoach28 replied to NAS's topic in Carolina Panthers
I hope so. Morgan definitely showed unspoken faith in Wallace by not drafting a LB. -
I like his pairing with Jewell for the upcoming season. Josey can play close to the line + blitz while Wallace can drop back into coverage and cover space with his speed. I can see Evero looking to send Wallace on the blitz in the second half after establishing him as a coverage guy to the opposing offense.

We didn’t need T-Mac when we have Legette though. We needed a guy like Golden to learn behind Theilen for a year and become the premier route runner in the NFL with world class speed. But hey…I wasn’t in the room. -
Yeah out of every guy I hope “breaks out”, Trevin is top for me. Getting an ILB in here under 25 at a high level would be ideal given where we stand in our build.
-
i hope so. i like the guy.
