For the record, the Draft is fun...but I wish they'd find a way to get rid of it. It is borderline crazy that pro athletes are just about the only profession where you don't have really any say on where you're going to work, live, etc. Free agency for all would come with issues, but I'd be interested in it. Want to go to the contender? Then prepare to take less money. Only care about your paycheck or getting your stats? Then welcome to the bad teams with cap space.

$41 million and can't even show up like every other rookie is and has been doing? Terrible look.
-
I was concerned it could become a thing if we drafted him. If the grades are even remotely close you draft the player who wants to play for your franchise. Maybe this will be nothing and all blow over, but it's nice not to have to worry about it...

It was fine when we won but he was probably too player friendly and lost a SB because he just let the players do their thing instead of having a real plan to win the game. Also, after 2017, he had nothing. The players quit on him two years in a row. You could see it in the 1-15 finishes. The players quit.

Hornets Screwed in NBA Draft Lottey...Again
FatChad replied to chknwing's topic in Charlotte Hornets
I'm officially done watching any NBA or spending a dime going to games and buying merchandise. It was always obvious, but this year was the tipping point. I watched about 30 minutes of basketball the entire playoffs this year. They have killed it for me. Lebron to Cleveland, Rose to Chicago, Kyrie when Lebron returned, Zion for Anthony Davis, Wiggins, and now this?? anyone still committed to this WWE entertainment league? -
So where can I find out tailgating parking spots for the season?
X-Clown replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
There's a big lot on West Morehead across from the Carolina School Supply Building that should have room. Up to this point it's been first come first serve on gameday and didn't allow online booking but not sure if that's changed. We stopped parking there a couple of years ago since it's kinda hard to get out of after the game and it went up to $50 -
Rumor is it was both Philly and Charlotte he told not to draft him. Also his agent tried to tell Utah as well but they didn't care.

XL working on leaving his mark instead of the football (terrible joke) https://x.com/avl_mike/status/1938619957450858920?s=46 i know some people need to see players working in the off-season to believe they are for some reason. So here ya go.

^^^This! Ron Rivera for all the crap he gets from fans was an absolute master at establishing culture and blending the personality of the players to fit. And in a lot of ways having that full buy in from players is way more valuable that being a wiz at X’s and O’s. When you can get guys to play for each other and the org … wooo buddy!!!

ESPN’s recent grades has Charlotte with a B. I haven’t paid attention to any others really.

It’s simple. Win and everyone in here will say the culture is good. Dear lord the amount of time spent on these posts is hysterical. We’ve seen the end of season swoons where you can tell the team had given up with many of the same leaders that took us to playoff seasons. When your OL is decimated by injuries, it’s amazing how fast culture turns. When you get on a tear like 2015, everyone’s having fun. You need the right people regardless, but they have to win.

The difference is about how much player input is allowed and encouraged in the decision making process. Top down teams tend to dictate to players how everything is handled. Disagreements are handled by the coach and players are expected to do what they are told regardless of what they think or feel. Players are perceived as commodities to be used until we find better. In player led teams player input is encouraged and valued. Players and especially leaders are expected to settle their own disagreements and be accountable to the team but mostly to each other. Players are family to be appreciated and supported in their growth. Is the reality of football the same in both? Yeah there are limited positions, football is a business and winning is the bottom line. Coaches get final say and run the program because that is their job. But in player led teams they feel valued, appreciated, part of a larger whole. Most people who have worked at multiple jobs know exactly what I am talking about. When players try to run the show and don't value coach input that isn't a player led team, that is a circus which we surely are familiar with in our past.

For our pics and trades tonight and tmrw. Remember, Aho was a 2nd rounder and Slavin was a 4th rounder.
-
Seems to be the consensus from the talking heads. I really wish we had double dipped at center in the 2nd round. Sion will never play in the league.
-
Not sure why the hand-wringing on this draft. I thought it was extremely solid overall…
-
It’s the second round and we get a really tough defensive guard and a very solid big with rim protection ability. This was a good draft IMO.
-
Duke could probably beat the Hornets. Enough haterade!

Hornets Screwed in NBA Draft Lottey...Again
Proudiddy replied to chknwing's topic in Charlotte Hornets
I brought it up elsewhere, but even the year we took SGA, which was the player I wanted that year (fwiw, I hated the Bridges pick), we took SGA then traded him for Bridges, who was taken a pick after ours. Like why tf should anyone do that? If we wanted Bridges, we could’ve just taken him without pick. And all we netted was a 2nd round pick and a solid role player who beats women in his spare time. But outside of player for player, all we gained was a 2nd rounder. And don’t feel like going back to look, but look how many picks we traded over the years for nothing or cash considerations. Remember when we drafted Duren and then traded him for literally fuging nothing? These trades are too many to count. -
Just stop drafting so many Duke players, this poo is getting old.
